Is their a self help group for wood store addiction?

This wasn't by choice. the January storm brought down a wheen of trees. It's a semi artwork/installation. We have the potential for some important visitors this summer, so we really dont want to have mountains of wood lying around.
mcchopper, you know Im going to now have to do some more wood-based activities now 🙂
I reckon I can store chopped logs against my yard wall with a little cat slide roof to keep direct rain off. Not too bothered with windblown.
Watch this space 🙂
And dont forget to keep posting pics during your build!
you should integrate some mcmooshore into that.
I was thinking woodstore before opening. Is thisthe wood from "that" tree thread?
Do you actually burn this wood or just build homes for it and post pics on t'internets 🙂

Yep, its our sole source of heating.
Nice job, but is your spade a bit short? Ah well at least you'll have a couple more logs once you saw the top of the 4"x4"s. 😉
Ok, Diciples of Wood - I managed to get the roof on just before darkness fell. My neighbour passed as I was working this morning and said she thought it reminded her of an Amish barn raising with a twist. Usually there are dozens of folks helping out and others baking cakes and supplying tea. Not in this parish, I did the whole thing on my tod.
I need to root around for some more 2x1 for the other end and maybe something for the back side, but it's nearly there.
Peter it sure is looking good , hope u have enough wood to fill it.
Now thats a proper wood store.
I will hopefully fit a log burner in my next house.
I think ill need Slightly smaller storage
If you need to fuel 😉 your wood store/pile fetish then I suggest a trip to rural France, Brittany would be a good place.
My mother lived there for 12 years and some of her neighbours wood hoards were truly impressive.

My sister stays in La Creuse. When her elderly neighbour died, his family sold everything he owned except his woodpile. They spent a summer transporting it away.
I'm going for the log cladded house look - provides extra insulation before you burn it 🙂
BUT I broke the head off my maul today 🙁 I'm going to have to work out how to replace the handle.
Oh and I'm about to pull the trigger on one of these
Now then, where is the number for that self help group? 😆

It's probably engaged as I'm a frequent dialer.

If it is an Oregon one, you can buy new parts for them. I'd probably use a blowlamp to burn the section still in the head out
Now might be the time to consider a hydraulic log splitter. 😀
That looks better
Out of interest how much did the wood and roofing cost you for this build?

I think the eight ten foot 4x4s and 10 4x2s were £130. The corrugted tin I found in a scrapyard for £80. It was NOS, but only 5 foot lengths so I had to have an overlap in the middle, no real hardship, a plus is it's easier to handle. A £30 25kg box of four inch galvanized nails of which there are hundreds left. Some concrete to bed the posts in. In total, somewhere in the region of £250.
If you had a handful of helpers you could easily build one in a weekend.
Now that's what I call a quality wood store
Hi-five that man.....
Good work!
Do you have a machine for splitting all that? Or just massive arms?

he#s built a device that Heath Robinson would be proud of.
You have to be driving a tractor along at 20+mph to get it to work but it is otherwise perfectly safe.
My guess is "not quite big enough".

Yep, a home made Heath McRobinson scrapheap challenge hydraulic splitter.
