Obviously I could buy (another) chromecast but I did want to check whether you can cast directly from an android device to the media pc (w10) I already have on our living room TV - basically using the pc as a chromecast.

mine (htc) is through the 'home' app? you got that on your phone?
Yeah but I still don't see it in there...
on mine i click the three lines top left, and its the first choice above devices, account preferences etc....
altho i [i]did[/i] have the chromecast app installed previously, so wonder if the home app has swallowed that up? do you have an option in play store for chromecast app?
Interesting to note that the windows connect app seems to create a direct WiFi ap when it's running
As you say, the chromecast app has been replaced by the home one. When I check for devices, I see my chromecast and Android tv but not the Windows pc
