I'm currently the high bidder on a set of Fox 36s, however I've just bought a bargain set of Boxxers so don't want the Fox foks. Can I cancel my bid before the auction ends or do I just have to hope I'm out-bid or apologise, explain the situation and hope the seller understands? Thanks.

Just do what everyone else seems to do, just don't bother paying if you win. The seller can't leave negative feedback.
