Kent - this is a really nice one, we go there a few times a year and meet up with my brother and his family. Nice quiet, clean site, child friendly. Good facilities. Big pitch sizes.

Or this one

Nr Brecon, Wales - is also fanstasic if you like walking. Again great facilites and a drying room and communal fridge/freezers for campers (which is good, cos there's no leccy hook-up for tents, as far as I know)

We go on a annual outing to Trevella Park just outside of Newquay (Yuck) but close enough to all the good stuff down there. If your with Kids, Hendra is great, but a bit chavvy sometime.

Red Squirrel up in Glencoe.

It's basic, but you're right in the middle of one of the most beautiful places on earth, it feels like you are wild camping (you can have a fire outside your tent too) and the legendary Clachaig Inn is only a 10 minute walk away.

One of my favourtie campsites in the UK.

If you want something with better facilities in the same area, try Invercoe which is just down the road. The views over the loch when you wake up in the morning are amazing.

Hailes Fruit Farm near Winchcombe in the Cotswolds.

Basic, but clean, and you can have campfires which is a rarity. Lots of good riding from the gate, plus nearby to towns like Cirencester and Winchcombe for tea shops and pubs, Cheltenham for 'proper sized' but nice town, Broadway and many other pretty Cotswold villages.

Also stayed at lovely one in Watermouth in Devon, can't remember the name...

The one in Watermouth is dog friendly. Found it now:

Great spot, not sure on riding but right on the coastal path

Pear Tree Park in Dorset is nice. Lovely part of the world. Nice enclosed site, barrier access & the owner takes no crap.

you can book a hook up for a tent, you end up in the second field.

Pencelli is ace..

Always found the national trust sites in the Lakes good, more trees etc to break the site up, not just a farmer trying to cram as many people into a field as possible. Used to be first come first served but you can book them online now.

Whatever you do DO NOT go to Spiers House campsite nr Dalby Forest anytime during the midge season. A living hell in a beautiful location. You might just be safe in April. But I wouldn't risk it.
