Hoping to head down to Cornwall in a couple of weeks to do a spot of camping and taking the bikes.

It's been a very long time since i visited the County so where is the best area to head for in regards to riding?

Not looking for extreme riding as MsL is only a beginner, but we ride in the Pennines so used to hills etc.

Thinking maybe Bodmin area, although the Lizard and the Western Peninsula also look good.

All reccommendations gratefully recieved ๐Ÿ™‚

*sympathy post*

I went camping in the lizard a few weeks ago at a place called Henry's Campsite which was ace, fully reccomended by me.

Unfortunately I didn't take my bike though so can't help ๐Ÿ™

Edit to say there is some cracking scenery but didn't see much in the way of hills I don't think.

Hi Hustyn Woods near wadebrdge is a good riding location. Most of the coast path is forbidden to ride unfortunatly. Penwith moors is a good spot for a 28 mile xc loop. Other than that there are smaller rides in local forests ect, Kit hill is good.

You could do a lot worse than spend a day on the camel trail going to Padstow (no hills, very easy). Where are you camping?

There are hills here you just have to find them!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

That's the point really, She-who-must-be-obeyed/ignored has her heart set on Cornwall and we want to take the bikes.
We're not looking for Peak-style riding but we'd like to camp somewhere that is in easy reach of some nice riding.

Currently looking around St Ives, RedRuth and the Lizard.

I personally like the Western Peninsula, but is there anywhere near Bodmin Moor worth staying at? Reasoning behind St Ives is that there is something else to do then.

If you want to stay on the edge of Bodmin Moor then I would recommend South Penquite - excellent camp site that lets you have fires and pitch where you like (no dogs allowed). Very rural setting - check out their web site

There isn't much (any) riding near Bodmin, you'd be better looking near Portreath/Redruth/Gwithian way, then you'd be pretty close to Carn Brea, Carn Marth & the Poldice valley which has many riding opportunities.

If you stay near St Agnes or Perranporth the coastpath between those is great, but totally illegal.
