PC is slooooooowing up, general junk I feel the cause. What are your best free or otherwise programs to restore health to pc's XP (yes I still have one) but mostly windows 7 and windows 8
Used to using programs like piriform cclean various bot finders etc.
Not up for doing a format on the drive as I don't have the windows cd's anymore and it may stretch my knowledge a bit too much...(but perhaps not if i put the time in)
I think you can download Win 7 media to re-install, there is an option to do a restore where it uses all the existing licensing and partitions off the old files which you can delete when you are done.
It's quick and simple.

You can indeed - currently typing on a Vista machine restored with downloaded media, and W7 is also available from the same place (on MS servers, so nothing dodgy, the only trick is knowing where to look).
