Are there any building regs when cables are shoved through a wall to stop water ingress?
Dunno about regs but the cable should enter from below and the hole should slope upwards. Then sealed NOT with silicone.
What should it be sealed with?
Why would you push a cable through a wall to stop water ingress? There are so many better things to use, even a Little Dutch Boy's finger will work to hold back water.
No regs just best practice.good ol silicone will seal the hole very well
It's a **** to paint though.
I guess if you get it only in the hole then fair enough. But by the time it's smeared half way to the floor it just looks shit.
I would use an acrylic sealant like for what you put around windows.
I've got posh coloured stuff grey,white,red and black if people are getting down the wall your doing wrong you'd be surprised how many do lol
