How expensive is it for a 19 year old first time driver?

Insurance will be pretty tasty I reckon.

Will it be for work too?

Probably a fair bit!

Just bought and insured my first van, being 40 and with 9 years no claims it was £450 so not much help to you 😈

Nope, just for going to and from uni, to and from races and riding, and that's about it.

Look out the window, pick a van reg and give it a shot. Petrol not much more than a car. Tolls on bridges around double. Grrr.

I'm in the process of getting my first van just now, insurance (29y/o with 6 years NCB) looks like it will be around £500. So if 6 years = 65% off, the price with 0 NCB would not be cheap......then put your age into the mix - likely to be 😯 pricey

Do you really need a van, or would an old estate do?

Had a housemate when I was at uni, who insisted on getting an old escort van, despite encouragement to get an estate. He used the coin bins on the Wales bridge, paying for a car because his argument was that he was not a commercial vehicle...

He got caught on camera and stung for the whole amount + fine!
