I think that Jack Straw's reasons for not giving more details in February were valid. Even if the jury hearing his case don't know who he really is (assuming he is charged under his new identity) they might well have a pretty good idea after the publicity so far and the chance of him having a fair trial, to which he is entitled in a civilised society, are now reduced.

Horrendous crime in the past and horrendous charges, but if we claim to be a civilised society we owe him a fair trial.

A nasty inditement of how our society is today.

He's obviously disturbed and deserves to be locked up. He should never have been released, along with his accomplice. Jack Straw should be ashamed for not giving the bulger family the details of his detention as it was relevant to their case

I predict the lynch mob will soon arrive on this thread

Highclimber - why would it have been relevant to Denise Bulger?

"Well what do you think?"

I think it's proof the system works tbh. Give people a second chance, if they throw it away then act accordingly.

Now, I have a secret bet on with myself, I'm wondering how long it will take before someone says XXXXXX...

I suspect a lot of forum users on here could be done for peer to peer sharing

I don't recall hearing anything about his accomplice since the original case.

He appears to be disturbed and there appears to be a need for a trial regarding the current accusations, but if we convict on hearsay we are going down a dangerous road.

I rarely agree with TJ (but usually respect his point of view) and have to ask the same question: why would this be relevant to the surviving Bulgers?

james bulger was a child, they did untold things to him, they were released with new identities, paid for by the Tax payer, john Venebles was arrested for something which we knew was child related (we did though didn't we), the bulger family deserve to know what their child's murderer has been arrested for. I would want to if it was my son, wouldn't you?

highclimber - Member

they were released with new identities, paid for by the Tax payer

It always pisses me right off when the taxpayer has to foot the bill.

Hopefully, the new Home Secretary will introduce private sponsorship for that sort of thing in future.

I think you need to have your children murdered before you can make statements like that

GET ON WITH YOUR LIVES

That's probably easier said than done...........it's not the sort of thing which you just "get over".

I think it's probably about time the gutter-raking rabble-rousing tabloids moved on though. Although I won't be holding my breath.

ton, even by your self-set low standards, that was a poor attempt. I thought I'd been missing you, but I hadn't.

Come on big guy, try harder will you?!

dirtyrider - that's a completely ****ty accusation, particularly as you're supposedly a member of the 'caring' profession. While were at it, what's the point of threads like this? Weve been here so many times, with the same polarised views being aired, and very few people are able to give anything other than a knee jerk reaction.

Are you suggesting that her only motivation is to cash in on the loss of her son ?

What a delightful comment 😐

Carry on mate...........you're starting to sound like a nonce.
