Are there any alternatives at sensible prices which will fit on the front carrier block? Mrs birthday coming up and she suggested something to carry her 13" laptop, waterproof etc from the park & ride. Don't think she appreciated how ridiculously overpriced they are (imho).

Be aware that the standard T-bag is ridiculously unwaterproof 🙁
There's the Carradice above and also the Demano Diagonal Mar bag, but you'll need to buy the brompton bag frame as well, so they work out about the same price in the end.
The only 'cheap' option is the Brompton basket.
You can just by the frame and use lots of pannier style bags on them
I used to use an Ortlieb office bag
