Seems to be almost none of the above around despite numerous links on google - is it purely postcode dependent?

Any ideas?

I am guessing a mobile sim & hotspot wouldn't be affordable for enough data? (TV Streaming mostly)

You can get rolling contracts on 4g/5g sims and routers, but they tend to not be as reliable and consistent as FTTC or FTTP.

2 year contracts seem to be the norm now with most broadband providers. It kinda sucks, I think they should be regulated to have to provide 12 month rolling contracts.

Especially as they all always seem to hike the price mid-term at some point.

I took a 2 year contract with Zen for my FTTP connection. They promise a fixed price without hikes, and seem reputable, so I’ll probably just stick with them (or at least until their price is no longer competitive in the unlikely event prices drop). I still ended up paying for yet another bundled router, which might be part of the reason there are no short or rolling contracts going. Providers understandably don’t want to provide support for third-party routers for the mass market.

But they charge quite a bit more in the first place, so there's that! They don't do it for free!
