Yeah, let’s let them off the hook.
Again, I didn’t say that, I was referring to Binners political ranting as you well know, and that he’s just confirmed he isn’t going to stop. He’s much gone down in my estimation. I thought he was better than that.
oh, wait;
Why the **** should I?!
Becuase it helps no one.
Why not take your Boris bashing hat off and be a bit more glass half full?
The Backlogs at the ports now are real, we have thrown literally billions & billions of taxpayers money at brexit & many more will be spent on it, the fall in the £ alone has taken £1000s out of every family's pockets, it's poisoned & divided the nation
Johnson owns this farce from top to bottom
Well that’s something else to pin on me then?
If you go to the Jeremy Corbyn thread it’s apparently my fault he lost the last two elections. I just didn’t believe enough
So now Brexit is my fault too, for what would appear to be much the same reasons
I don’t know how I sleep at night
Becuase it helps no one.
Why on earth should I do anything but rail against the utter destructive stupidity of what is happening in my country, which I and many, many others (48%) knew would happen
Only he won’t.
Edit- that was directed at Kimbers last post
I don’t know how I sleep at night
The only possible way - wrapped in a Dambusters duvet set listening to the speeches of Churchill and Powell on a loop?
If you do, everything will be fine.
I would also like to add that the antics of Johnson and his coterie of arseholes are being done, ostensibly, in my name. And every man jack of us.
Sending unsigned letters like some smartarse public schoolboy with rich parents.
Swaggering around threatening people with a non-existent navy like a village ASBO case.
Gloating about ending freedoms like some jumped up version of Pol Pot.
The list is endless and I do not like the feeling that people elsewhere in the world might judge me, if I go there on business (unlikely admittedly) or holiday, by these standards.
We are being made to look ridiculous, childish, stupid, petty, xenophobic, racist and the rest by this bunch of tossers. And the only, THE ONLY, reason we are left with them in charge is because of Brexit and its positive selection of the stupid or opportunistic.
Johnson and this pathetic, nasty little government do not represent me and never will.
**** them.
**** tub thumping jingoistic nationalism.
**** Brexit and all who sail in her.
Why not take your Boris bashing hat off and be a bit more glass half full?
Boris needs bashing - the utter twunt has wrecked the country for his own misplaced ambition
Remember there has never been any intention to get a deal and anything cobbled together now is thin gruel indeed
I'd like to place on record that in the event of some stupid repeat of the cod wars that I'm on the side of the EU and against the little Englanders.
July 2021: Full customs declarations will need to be made at the time of import for all goods.
That's only on the way in, the lorry has to get back into the EU...
Or do you think there is a never-ending supply of lorries?
Being objective for a second, I know not my usual style, the thing that should really worry the true Brexies (as opposed to disaster capitalists who just want to watch the world burn - there might be a phoenix in the somewhere), is that no deal brexit effectively trashes UK sovereignty and makes us rule takers for a generation. Size matters in trade negotiations.
At some point you just have to accept that a whole lot of stupid people (encouraged by a lot of dishonest people) shat the bed, and try to make the best of it.
Yep, and I joined the SNP not long after the 2016 Ref.
I can help Scotland, but England & Wales are 'lost' IMO.
Regarding stockpiling, it’s worth pointing out that Tesco’s has already started rationing things like toilet roll and dried pasta.
There’s six months to sort out border control.
we've had four years and done **** all of any use. The evidence suggests it'll be another colossal **** up, possibly overseen by a quango of consultants who are only employed as a result of their relationship with the cabinet.
The glass is far from half full. It's empty, smashed, and being shoved in our faces.

The glass is far from half full. It’s empty, smashed, and being shoved in our faces.
A million times this.
There are consultants being paid hundreds of thousands of pounds each to investigate the potential effects of No Deal on the NHS.
Yep, spunking millions of taxpayers money to their mates to investigate the effects of their actions on our health service.
All the usual line up of trough emptiers are there, snouts wedged firmly in.
It's a one-off heist and once the opportunity is gone it is gone, so they are already picking at the carcass even while it is still nominally on its feet.
Wait until the stealth recategorisations start. Overnight things that were considered essential will start to be classified as elective. It will be done very gradually, but it will happen.
Still, blue passports, eh?
In that moronic gurning video I posted up that Boris put out this afternoon he declares that we are ready.
How? In what way?
There’s some half-finished lorry parks, an IT system that’s not been tested yet and in reality we can assume is nowhere near finished and they’ve recruited none of the 50,000 they apparently need
And that’s just the ports
They put Michael Gove - MICHAEL ****ING GOVE - that renowned logistics expert in charge of no deal planning
The EU must be howling with laughter at Borises poker face when it’s there for all to see how utterly and completely unprepared this country is for a no deal scenario.
Prosper mightily? Don’t make me laugh
This lot literally couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery
Oh.... maybe not... there’s a couple of gunboats in the Channel to look after those English fish 🙄
I think it’s pretty safe to assume that how catastrophic January will be will exceed the very worst ‘Project Fear’ dire predictions
Borises poker face
He wouldn't even be able to play Snap!
He only thinks he's any good because other kids were told they had to let him win sometimes because his Mummy and Daddy were rich.
Anyone remember the "rosy days" of just how hard Brexit will/should be? There was genuine discussion on here, in the media, in parliament. No friggin way most of us** really thought no deal was even remotely going to happen because it was patently so catastrophic.
Heady days.😟
I suspect there will be a "deal" but it will be so slim as to be knife like and most of it will really just be kicking the can down the road. Time, over the years, is on the EU's side. Boris will announce a "victory." The UK's decline (what will be left of the UK) will be stark over the next decade to come.
Tbh, I'm am f***ing furious, desperately sad and genuinely fearful of the direction this country has taken.
I will never, ever get behind Brexit. Not as long as I live.
**Pretty sure Binners and possibly a few others did state no deal was entirely possible.
Given the inherent contradiction at the heart of the whole Brexit project - regulatory alignment - No Deal was an inevitability
As soon as Theresa May stated we would be leaving the customs Union and the single market (while still expecting to enjoy the benefits of both), where we are now was the only logical destination.
Having your cake and eating it?
The EU was never ever going to agree to that.
It’s staggering when you think about it.
A small hardcore of far right lunatics, regarded as a bunch of headbangers even in the Tory party, have pulled off probably the greatest coup in an advanced western democracy since the Second World War, and they’re presently slapping each other’s backs at their achievement- the hardest of hard brexits - as the country stares into the abyss
Why not take your Boris bashing hat off and be a bit more glass half full?
Johnson helped make this mess, just to further his childhood obsession of becoming PM… and he continues to make it worse every day he stays in office. Where’s the glass half full, as regards him, to come from? He just needs to bugger off. He’s a waste of space.
The BBC just used the phrase “Carry On Talking”… when reporting on the negotiations. A movie I’d rather be watching than living through. If only Johnson’s routine was part of a chuckle along silly movie… not as the head of our government trying it make the most of a mess of their own making.
I'm sure this has been mentioned, but at this late stage, neither side is going to budge. I'm sure there's no new ideas to solve whatever issues they have.
Any extension to talks is completely pointless. It's a nailed on no deal.
Brexit as promised was always impossible. Voting for something impossible does not mean that you will get it.
In order to make Brexit meaningful, the UK must be able to diverge from EU regulations. If we've diverged from EU regulations, then we can't have 'the exact same benefits'.
So no deal has been nailed on from the start, and anyone who thought about it could see that - except the people who thought the the little UK could bully the EU into accepting what would be a terrible deal for them.
no deal has been nailed on from the start
I disagree with that, it's been such a mess of contradictions and lies that quite literally any outcome was and remains possible. Johnson could completely back down tomorrow. It's no less a contradiction of his previous promises than a no deal brexit would be. None of it ever made any sense and there never was any pathway to a rational brexit because the whole campaign was built on lies.
I think that whatever happens with Brexit, Johnson has to go asap.
Though it will never have much impact on him I suspect he will be seen as the worst PM in modern history. He will have justly earned that.
I'm not sure what I detest him for most, the appalling handling of the pandemic or the utter sh*t fest of the Brexit to come.
Either one of them is enough for me to absolutely despise the man.
The appalling reality is that when he likely goes in Spring we still have 4 more years of these utter shysters.
Boris Johnson will not be PM by the end of January.
The Tory party is ruthless. The only reason he’s not gone already is that they’re going to make him carry the can for the disaster that Brexit will deliver in January. He owns it, after all. He’ll do a Dave on January 2nd, like the spineless shithouse he is (as Was Dave)
It’s difficult to believe but what follows him will doubtless be worse. I can see the senile, geriatric old bastards going for Raab
Johnson will be with us into the summer, if not longer. It’s not all about January.
No deal was always inevitable. As per Binners post above and also because its the main aim of those driving it.
The aim has always been a low wage low regulation economy and a tax haven
Its more than just financial its the fulfilment of a Nationalist ideology, free market ideology is difficult to establish in its extreme form but this has been achieved and to be blunt this was probably inevitable regardless of brexit.
As a country we have deep structural flaws in our economic model and this has been brought into focus by covid, simple things like our 20 billon overdraft on our balance of payments v Germanys 20 billion positive show this.
Thatcher tried to fix it with deregulation and it did prop up the economy for some time.
This model is well understood by the right wing of the Tory party, they understand the problem and that they needed to ensure their survival for the next 50 years. Binners is right in what he says about disaster capitalists- this is about creating a dependency (poor people voting for a better life Brexit) then creating an opportunity (poor people working harder for more (less) money) that creates an illusion of prosperity while making the UK economy "leaner" (removal of regulation)
I was on the receiving end of Thatcher, the difference this time is the educated middle class will also suffer.
Its not going to be a grenade in January if its no deal it wil be a slow progressive cancer that eats away at the well being of ordinary people.
I am 58 and i will not see this turn around in my lifetime- if ever.
We have all ****ed up.
This is a pretty accurate summary of Boris, Brexit and the wider culture war they’ve fuelled. Welcome to the future of Brexit Britain. A country built on petty, small-minded, mean-spirited intolerance.
That’s the most depressing thing about Brexit. It’s the mindset that it represents a victory for

Very, very much this. A catastrophic covid response also feeds into this.
There will be much fanfare about big companies setting up operations here thanks to the low regulations, and people will be so desperate for jobs that they'll take any low paid exploitative role, and it will be chalked up as a victory.
know-it-alls
Better a know-it-all who gave clear warnings and is about to be proved right.
I can't think how stupid I'd feel if I'd been led up the garden path by a few multi millionaires to vote for something they sold as 'good for you little people' whilst moving their personal wealth and companies offshore.
#donelikeakipper
🙊
Any extension to talks is completely pointless. It’s a nailed on no deal.
I'm still hopeful that's the case but agree with thecaptain, anything could still happen.
You're hoping for no deal?
Never has the phrase “done like a kipper” been more coincidentally correct.
I can’t think how stupid I’d feel if I’d been led up the garden path by a few multi millionaires to vote for something they sold as ‘good for you little people’ whilst moving their personal wealth and companies offshore.
Erm, think that through for a moment😱
That JoB is very good/accurate.
are you guys still feeding the troll?
are you guys still feeding the troll?
Yeah.
Erm, think that through for a moment
Have done. Care to elaborate on your 'thought' process?
You’re hoping for no deal?
Yes he is. I think he's swallowed the 'levelling up' line as well.
Being conned once could be viewed as unfortunate. Twice is careless.
Or he's just trolling - which I hope is the case.
I just took a look back at the original EU Referendum discussion. And I'm afraid 🙂 to say that Binners nailed it in the first couple of pages:
I think the whole point is that nobody really knows as its never happened before. I imagine it’ll be very complicated and very, very messy, with loads of unforeseen consequences.
I’d imagine that the crowing of the Tory backbenches and UKIP would be very very very short-lived as the reality of the monumental ****-up sank in with everyone else
We'll soon be at the 2nd para...
Also interesting to see how pretty much none of the original leavers are in this thread - and I wonder how many have sloped off STW totally.
Alok Sharma currently taking his turn at being made to look a **** on Johnson's behalf on R4.
Still, he doesn't care. Pushing preposterous bullshit is now the number one requirement for cabinet ministers.
Yup, the “we will prosper” line in full effect, when asked for the benefits of no deal for businesses. It’s damaging for all but the high value spivs that back him… the rest of us just have to suck it up, but the UK will still be ‘prosperous’… great. It’s just another turn of the shift from “Brexit will improve your lives” to “Brexit won’t destroy us”.
Binners is right in what he says about disaster capitalists- this is about creating a dependency (poor people voting for a better life Brexit) then creating an opportunity (poor people working harder for more (less) money) that creates an illusion of prosperity while making the UK economy “leaner” (removal of regulation)
Yes, he is.
But don't believe just him.
Truss, Kwarting, Patel, Raab and Skidmore even wrote a book where they bang on about how lazy British workers are and how we stifle innovation here and don't allow business risk and some other stuff that seemed at best loosely attached to reality, and how in order to be successful (aren't we now?) we needed to deregulate and kill off much of the state including the welfare state and also lower taxes, which would all result in the UK magically becoming somehow the bestymost place ever, and, er, unicorns.
So it's all good if you're Jeff Bezos or Mike Ashley or someone like that.
Not so jam hot for anyone below the multi millionaire bracket.
And they got 17+ million people, the vast majority of whom will be worse off as a result, to vote for it.
They're laughing their tits off at those people too.
🙈🙈🙊🙊🙊🤦♂️🤦♀️
Johnson helped make this mess, just to further his childhood obsession of becoming PM…
I blame Johnson 100%, pretty sure that if he'd opted to side with remain (remember his 2 letters) his "charisma" would have swung the result ☹️
I blame Johnson 100%, pretty sure that if he’d opted to side with remain (remember his 2 letters) his “charisma” would have swung the result
Which is what he really wanted. He wanted to be able to run as the eurosceptic candidate at the next leadership contest, but knowing he had a safety net of 'the will of the people' voting remain. He could then do all the British Bulldog bullshit without ever having his bluff called.
Unfortunately he overestimated the 'great' British public. So it had to be Plan B. And now the Bullshit Bus has run out of road.
The EU are only holding out the prospect of further talks to avoid walking into Johnson's childish trap of being seen to be the ones who broke it off. A bucket of water on top of the door would be less childish and obvious.
Oh, and the Tories' disdain for their new voters is shown by the terminology they use for them. Utterly predictably they are referred to in party circles as 'The Great Unwashed'. They couldn't even be arsed to think up a new snidey nickname for them.
