Thinking on buying a Bose Sounddock but the lack of tuner (just basically an amp and speakers) is niggling me. For the size, the Bose really does sound quite nice, but for £200 are there any good micro systems out there that can compete?

I have the bose sound dock II.
I also have a Denon M38, with some monitor audio book shelf speakers.
The difference is night & day, the Denon blows the Bose away.
If you can source a Denon M38 for similar money I would recommend this. Gives you Ipod/DAB/CD all in one.
You could pick up a Denon M38 via the web for not much over £200, if you had any half passable speakers spare you could give yourself a far better sounding mini hifi set up.

I have the bose solely because you can re-charge the battery and take it outside with you.

was looking at the Denon M38 also and to be honest was swaying towards this as I have a pair of old Mission speakers in the loft doing nothing....

I have a JBL Onstage 400P, tremendous sound from it. Way cheaper than the Bose effort too.

Since you can pick a sounddock up for £170 I think at that price you would struggle to find better
