To use the language of the man himself, cripes!

Near miss and a half, especially given the large number of people who seemed to be cycling along that route, very lucky that everyone got away from it!

Yes it's been posted before and I believe the general consensus was the he is a ****.

I'll let you work out if that's Boris or the driver.

Nice to see that even the Guardian doesn't know the difference between peddling and pedalling.

Would there have been a state funeral if Boris had been squashed?!

Not if DrDolittle had a say.

Apparently he doesn't see the point of wasting a good corpse.

If thats real-time, the lorry was driving alittle too fast over a speedbump and whilst overtaking cyclists. He should be prosecuted for dangerous driving.....that is.....if....he isnt working for comrade Brown of course.

This was incredibly dangerous to any road user, not just cyclists! Pedestrians and cyclists being the most vulnerable.

The xxxx who was too lazy to secure the rear door of his pickup truck should be banned and definitely loose his job for gross professional musconduct! Failing to observe simple safety precautions could have easily result in someone being killed, not to mention the thousands of pounds worth of damage caused.

How do you know ?

It wasn't some sort of failure - you know, like when something breaks on your bike whilst you're out cycling ?
No one had interfered with the doors - you know, like when someone tries to steal something ?

Just wondering how you know ....

Knowing that street as well as I do, the driver was going too fast anyway, as it's a residential area, and just outside a park, where there wooduv been loads of people with kiddies playing and that. Plus, it's a very popular route with cyclists.

I think a public disembowelling is well in order.

Ignoring the rear door, another classic impatient driver trying to squeeze through - I mean, there's maybe what 10 cyclists riding 2 abreast, parked cars on the other side of the road, AND a speedbump.

I don't care if the cyclists are pissing you off, they're still people and the driving alone, is plain stupid. The fact the door came open only meant he was caught doing it.

It's good to be streetwise.

No I dont' know that his door didn't spring open after being securely closed. Of course, for the past 40 years I have seen doors on lorries and trucks suddenly springing open all the time!(not)

Take a look at the hinged doors on a truck next time you are out and about. They are pretty failsafe. I therefore made the assumption that the driver had not secured them. Let's not get too PC about it eh!

You obviously know a lot more about this case than me.

The driver was a black lesbian disabled asylum-seeker, eh ?

In that case ............. "I think a public disembowelling is well in order" seems a fair and proportionate comment imo.

calm down everyone

iirc correctly the last time this video was posted ended in several offers to come round peoples houses and beat the crap out of each other

personally i think we should ban all cars and lorries in cities

why we put up with these
lethal
toxic
noisy
polluting
carcinogenic
obesity enducing
planet destroying
boxes is beyond me

No, Ernie. The driver was quite clearly, as is evident in that footage, a racist paedophile.

How d'it end up in a fight, last time? I missed that! 🙁 Thread been pulled?

The driver of the lorry was negligent in every respect. He was going far too fast for the street, and (just like a waiter in a restaurant being responsible for the plate that arrives on your table) was responsible for making sure the door was properly secured. The chances that that door just happened to have failed without ever having shown signs of wear are slim to nil.

He should be fined big time and lose his job.

I'm with Kimbers. Ban all cars and lorries.

Could bring back horses and carts and that. Much more fun.

One of my relatives was run down and killed by a horse and cart late 1800's

roads and death seems normal.

Did I say the girlfriend's just met the wife? 😆

And here's me thinking that thread caused problems!

A lorry driver and a politician - both 'care in the community' cases; or is that CAR in the community?! (cue cheesey Starsky and Hutch style thread ending....) 😛

Hold on, hold on; we don't know the circumstances of mrmo's ancestor's death, do we? Cooduv been tormenting the horse, or just walked out in front of it, or anything.

Jeeze, condemn an entire species, why don't you?

Well I took, "was run down" as meaning the horse "was running after him".

Any follow up to the story? I'd be interested to see if the driver is prosecuted. The footage (IMO) clearly shows a disregard to other road users even without the loose backdoor (no puns please).

If Boris has been squashed the video would be our version of this

[img] [/img]

Did anyone else notice the news reports are now choosing not to show the lorry bouncing over the speed bumps? Surely this is the relevant bit?

You think Brown might be borrowing ideas from Slobodan Milosevic and Robert Mugabe?

Just for anyone who was thinking the lorry driver may have done nowt wrong he was driving along with his doors locked shut by the incredibly failsafe "coathanger" method

If that had been a ‘Super Highway’ the driver would have been aware there would be cyclists and it wasn’t safe to be catapulting cars about.

Classic quote boris

Well spotted. I smell something fishy.

I think we need to know more about this so-called 'lorry driver' 😕

I wouldn't be surprised if he had connections with the BBC.

Nearly Kimbers, idiocy and a speed hump make road more dangerous (tho I'd say its 99% idiocy and 1% speed hump)
"The near disaster unfolded when the lorry hit a speed hump and the rear doors, held together by a coat hanger, were flung open."
