He will have a 150k pension for the rest of his life. €#@&
get found out
I’m not sure what you mean, it’s no secret who he is and how he operates.
I know mate, I can just see him choosing when to go and then doing a George Osborne, edit a newspaper, some lucrative speaking engagements
I want to see the fat turd dragged through the streets so I can throw shit at him
I want to see the fat turd dragged through the streets so I can throw shit at him
Not going to happen. The prats will still be tugging their forelocks and thinking he's some kind of genius because he can reel off a bit of cod Latin. Just so long as he keeps making 'gaffes' that are just racist enough.
There are to many right wing ****s in this country that think he is the second coming.
I am not on Facebook thankfully but my wife shows me posts from some of her colleagues showing the c*"" with his face in his hands and saying how brave he is and what an amazing job he is doing and that we should all be thankful. That is how thick a huge amount of people are in this country (see Brexit).
Check out what The Good Law Project have been doing for a reality check.
Jo maugham of GLP was on yesterday's oh god what now podcast. He's got a load more cases on the go against the govt. It's shooting fish in a barrel to be fair
People are not so much thick as mis and un informed. It is fascinating to see otherwise conservative supporters of the 'establishment' articulate support for this bankrupt amoral slime-ball. The way forward must be to enlighten with a vision and alternative narrative rather than try to suck up to cloth ears in a cloth cap with a sort of 'we're tories too' type message (which hasn't worked anyway). Such a task is way beyond the conception or ambition of the Starmy Army so maybe the Sirs will have to unite and form a light blue coalition instead because they so want to get elected.
Average reading age in the UK is that of a 9 year old child.
No doubt Bunga Bunpa parties for Number 10 are being planned.
Table pooing optional 😕

I think it’s worse than this, they are happy to go along with a fantasy reality ignoring the reality of what’s happening in plain sight.
I saw some minister banging On about strictest borders etc which is obviously not the case as th U.K.s overrun with variant d and it’s not like it’s a new thing, we’ve been living with this for a year so spotting an incoming variant and taking some sort of action prior to it ripping thru the country is what you’d expect to happen.
It’s like comical Ali.

I'm inclined to agree with this. Talk to people, offer them A or B policies, and they'll choose more liberal or equality based answers. Expect them to research for themselves and, well, here we are.

Back in January, SAGE were saying that borders and quarantine were the only way to limit the importation of variants. To a government that was elected on a platform of taking back control of our borders.
You gave yourselves one job!
In the last week
Provoked a gunfight with Russian warship (we now know on purpose)
We know this because MOD left secret docs at a bus stop, including troop deployment in Afghanistan
Backed Hancock not to resign even after he was caught breaking his own rules on distancing and gave a £1000 a day job to his lover
Hancock had to resign anyway and its emerged hes been bypassing work email on covid contracts
Footage was leaked from CCTV in Hancocks office, allegedly by antilockdown dhsc employee
Replaced by Javid (who Cummings also hates and will likely have dirt on too) and who's already associated with dodgy covid contract suppliers
Gove found guilty of breaking law & using covid money to poll on indyref2
(Internet a-swirl with rumours Gove has left his wife for a bloke, his venheful wife is uniquely poised to damage him as a daily mail columnist)
Delta variant Johnson let in to country delayed lockdown easing and has seen hospital admissions rise (vaccines mean rise much smallbut NHS backlog so acute any increase is a problem)
Brexit deal a complete disaster on its own terms, particularly for NI
Yet somehow culture war issues mean Tories will still take Batley & Spen byelection next week
Interesting times
Yet somehow culture war issues mean Tories will still take Batley & Spen byelection next week
Maybe despite everything you have pointed out sufficient amount of people think the Labour Party is even more incompetent and has nothing to offer.
How would you go about convincing them that they are wrong? Or more importantly how should the Labour Party do that? Since apparently it's their job (I believe they extra pay for being Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition)
Edit: Just checked and it would appear that only Starmer gets extra pay for being official opposition leader, it almost doubles his pay. The others just get extra for expenses.
Had this discussion with my life long Tory voting parents yesterday. I suggested voting Tory would endorse the chaos, lies and damage their useless government has unleashed on the country they say they love.
Even my dad seemed to understand my point.
Anyone but Tory.
Yet somehow…
Hang on… you think that all those things you listed go AGAINST what a big chunk of the voting public want? You overestimate people again.
only Starmer gets extra pay for being official opposition leader
I thought the opposition whips get a government salary as well? Because they have a parliamentary role. Everyone else are just speaking for an opposition party, so if they were to get extra pay, it would be from the party, which gets short money.
My Brexit-voting Mum yesterday said the words "I know what Boris is like, but I can't believe it of Matt Hancock". Unfortunately, she still doesn't really 'get it'.
thought the opposition whips get a government salary as well?
They get "additional stipend" apparently.
The only member of the Shadow Cabinet who gets extra pay is the Opposition Leader. It is quite substantial extra pay.

Salaries of Leader of Opposition and Opposition Whips
4.43
A salary was first granted to the Leader of the Opposition (see para 4.6 ) by the Ministers of the Crown Act 1937. On 1 April 2017, the salary was worth £64,029.1 Since 1965, provision has been made for the payment of a salary to the Opposition Chief Whip, and in 1972 this provision was extended to cover not more than two Assistant Opposition Whips.2 On 1 April 2017, the salary of the Opposition Chief Whip was worth £33,490 and that of the Assistant Opposition Whips £19,523. These salaries are in addition to their salary as Members of Parliament.
Johnson’s Britain…
Johnson is responsible for a car being vandalised, or for having a disproportionate number of BAME people in position of political power?
Impressive that Oldham has a Muslim female council leader btw, wasn't Oldham once targeted by the BNP? I wonder how that compares with other European countries?
And it turns out that Muslim women are not necessarily subjugated, who would have thought it.
All round good news I reckon, except of course the car getting vandalised. Although hopefully the police might get a lead from CCTV footage or something.
Johnson is responsible for a car being vandalised, or for having a disproportionate number of BAME people in position of political power?
I am going to go with his actions more likely to be the cause for option 1 than option 2.
Ah, Earnie’s always popping up to be the wingman for “letter boxes” Johnson, don’t worry about him.
Johnson and co have deliberately created a false narrative that encourages racism. thats why they share the blame. Its as simple as that
What should normally be an outrage, seismic shifts of public funds into chums' hands, luncheon voucher shags are now on the books, snidey racist comments, piling up the dead bodies with herd immunity, prehensile politicians, ponces and princes go free and how is the LP benefitting from all this?
It isn’t. An awful lot of people have got the government they want. Boos for “woke” football players, and the cutting of international aid.
Johnson and co have deliberately created a false narrative that encourages racism. thats why they share the blame. Its as simple as that
Not so much dog-whistle any more as shouting it through a tannoy.
I was listening to yet another Tory MP (Stephen Barclay?) on radio 4 this morning dancing on the head of a pin to try and defend Boris Johnsons and Priti Patels comments about taking the knee as not giving a nod and a wink to the racists, honest guv.
and the cutting of international aid.
Another guaranteed vote-winner with a big chunk of the Brexity population
and the cutting of international aid.
Yep, a guaranteed vote winner. A combination of people not understanding a countries economics, thinking the amount is big as they don't see/want to see the perspective, not undertstanding the impact of not providing the aid but mostly because they are a bunch of selfish ****s.
So we are not celebrating the fact that Oldham has, for the first time ever, a female Muslim council leader, why not?
Surely that is a cause for celebration, the very thought would have sounded ridiculous 20 years ago. How does that compare with the hostile bigoted islamophobic environment today in say France, Italy, or Hungary?
Instead you want to focus on a car being vandalised, assume that it was racist motivated, and most surprising of all, pretend that it is a new development reflecting new times.
Well if it does indeed provide evidence of a racist person/s operating in the Oldham area this is not a new development reflecting new times, there wasn't a golden halcyon time when Oldham was free of racism and everyone lived in perfect racial harmony.
Actually Oldham has in the recent past been infamous for its racist/BNP activity, during a long period of a Labour government in fact.
What does reflect new times however is the fact that it now has its first ever female Muslim council leader, but a few people on here seem to be completely uninterested in that apparently boring piece of news.
The UK, like many other European countries, has appalling racist immigration and nationality laws. Black people are indisputably discriminated against, being white has indisputable advantages. This situation has also occured under Labour governments. The treatment of the Windrush generation is utterly appalling.
And yet how many people on here want to talk about that? Not very many, much better to talk about how racist someone is for saying coloured people instead of people of colour.
Or personally blame Johnson if some racist halfwit vandalizes a car.
There is a whole multitude of reasons to attack Johnson. And yet some people want to hold him personally responsible when a car somewhere in the UK is vandalised. No wonder his position as PM seems so secure.
So we are not celebrating the fact that Oldham has, for the first time ever, a female Muslim council leader, why not?
I did. That the news didn’t make it down there isn’t a big surprise.
Last night’s news was the attack on her.
Anyway, good to hear more and more Conservative politicians starting to speak out about Johnson and his team. It’s not just Wasi speaking out publicly now.

Ernie - so politicians deliberately playing the race card and making racism acceptable to a large sector of the population over many years have no responsibility when racist attacks become more prevalent?
Had she recently missed a penalty?
I did. That the news didn’t make it down there isn’t a big surprise.
Didn't make it down where? Genuine question. Until your post I wasn't aware that Oldham had a female Muslim council leader.
It's obviously a hugely positive development, perhaps it got drowned out by news of vandalized cars?
Although for me it's not the fact that she is Muslim which is particularly interesting, or even the fact that it's in Oldham, there is an ever increasing number of Muslim councillors and council leaders in the UK, it's the fact that she is female. It exposes the myth peddled by many liberal alleged lefties concerning the rights of Muslim women.
The way the previous leader lost his seat in the May elections stunk, and made the appointment of Muslim leader even more of a poke in the eye for those that managed to force the change. I’m glad she got the job. That as a result she is under attack is not something to be either welcomed or brushed aside.
I wasn’t aware that Oldham had a female Muslim council leader.
It was on the regional news up here, (North West) after the elections, and to be fair there's been quite a a bit of coverage about the damage to her car also.
It exposes the myth peddled by many liberal alleged lefties concerning the rights of Muslim women.
I think the Muslim council of Britain elected a female leader this year as well (could be wrong about that, I'll have to look it up) Doesn't mean that people can't be concerned that in other Islamic countries women's rights are repressed, and that should be condemned.
It’s obviously a hugely positive development, perhaps it got drowned out by news of vandalized cars?
It was national news in May. The attack on her car is the current news.
It exposes the myth peddled by many liberal alleged lefties concerning the rights of Muslim women.
Its not a myth. Its a fact. Just because someone escapes does not mean it does not happen. Or are you really trying to suggest because we had a female PM sexism and the glass ceiling does not exist? Or that racism does not exist because there are brown cabinet members?
According to Earnie we have…
a disproportionate number of BAME people in position of political power
…so job done?
Doesn’t mean that people can’t be concerned that in other Islamic countries women’s rights are repressed, and that should be condemned.
Islamic countries such as Bangladesh?
Which has a a female prime minister? The longest serving prime minister in Bangladeshi history?
You mean "some countries" not "Islamic countries"
Don't feed islamophobia.
It exposes the myth peddled by many liberal alleged lefties concerning the rights of Muslim women.
Exact, that Arooj Shah is one of the worst for that;
“During her time as a councillor, she said she had faced opposition from traditionalists within her community as well as misogyny and racism.
Ms Shah said she felt a "huge duty to get it right".
"I want any Asian woman who's looking at me and watched [what] I've gone through to feel like they can do it too," she said.
Ms Shah said: "When my dad was alive all he viewed was the horrible nastiness that I got from misogynists in my own community, that's what he saw.“
What did Marx have to say about religion?
According to Earnie we have…
Please try to spell name correctly. I don't even earn very much.
So according to you there is a racist living somewhere in Oldham and this is apparently a new development.
Hold the front page.
I hate this thread for the simple fact that every time my eye catches it on the list my mind adds on 'is a ****'
What did Marx have to say about religion?
Can't remember. My favourite Marx quote is "these are my principles, if you don't like them I have others".
Islamic countries such as Bangladesh?
other countries that are predominantly Islamic are available...Other countries that have repressive policies towards woman, either implicitly or explicitly are also available Or does it that if a woman manages to become PM in one Islamic country mean that no other woman in any other predominantly Islamic country has her rights repressed?
During her time as a councillor, she said she had faced opposition from traditionalists within her community as well as misogyny and racism.
Ms Shah said she felt a “huge duty to get it right”.
So the UK gave her opportunities which she would not have got in an Islamic country? Jolly good.
Unless of course it was Bangladesh where she could have become not just council leader but prime minister. Or ****stan.
The boarding school here has a good number of black kids. Racism is certainly an issue but we are overwhelmingly divided by class not 'race'. The Tories have outshone Labour with appointing BAME people and so f what? We get Cleverley, Patel, Shah not Rashford or Mings, they are their to benefit their class not their colour. I bet Johnson laughs his socks off at the thought of them doing his bidding,
Ironic that a thread that is nominally about our glorious leader has been sidelined into one about the rights of Islamic women
What was the word, again, that he uses to refer to them?
As for the 'diverse' BAME cabinet members: summed up absolutely perfectly by Johnathon Pie a couple of years ago. More applicable than ever now....
Hold the front page.
Er… okay, you’re right… it isn’t news that this councillor’s car was torched, I shouldn’t have even brought it up. Sorry.
We get Cleverley, Patel, Shah not Rashford or Mings, they are their to benefit their class not their colour. I bet Johnson laughs his socks off at the thought of them doing his bidding,
Exactly. The line always trotted out when defending Patel is that she suffered racism in her life so she can be part of the problem. Seems to me like she is and suffering racism doesn't give a person exemption from their racist actions and behaviours.
Can’t remember.
Yeah right 🙂
What was the word, again, that he uses to refer to them?
In private or in public?
It was national news in May.
Tbh now you mention the May elections I do vaguely remember. I had completely forgotten. Thanks for reminding me 😊
Deleted!
Anyone else subjecting themselves to the self flagellation of PMQs today?
I can't stand it but live in eternal hope of another gaffe from BJ, with a bit of cut through
Starmer is spoilt for choice really, where to start? He said his piece about the foreign aid cut yesterday so will probably lead with covid
Doesn't matter what he asks really
Boris now just completely ignores at and rattles on with his latest slogan involving the word 'vaccination' repeatedly
I expect 'Freedom Day' will get numerous mentions too
Unless of course it was Bangladesh where she could have become not just council leader but prime minister. Or ****stan
Or maybe she wouldn’t have as the UN feel;
The rates of violence against women remain high.
In Bangladesh, marriage, divorce, custody of children, maintenance and inheritance are subject to religious law and these ‘personal laws’ often discriminate against women
Or this maybe this is of interest when looking at enlightened Bangladesh
Men still dominate the country’s political system. With Hasina leading the country since 2009 and the main opposition party also being led by a woman, Bangladesh might appear to be a model for women’s empowerment in politics. However, out of 350 seats in the Bangladeshi parliament, only 22 currently belong to directly elected female legislators while 50 are reserved for women who are not directly elected. Female politicians and activists have described a culture of exclusion within the two main political parties, reinforced by male politicians who view their female colleagues as inferior. Still, the proportion of women in parliament has continued to rise over the past decade and women hold seats in 12,000 local political offices.
A local bloke in Marrakesh said to me 'two things you don't want to be in Morocco, a donkey or a woman.' You tend to get the most religion in the most unequal and repressive societies and having taught girls in Whitechapel (including the current MP) I never found evidence that Islam, or any other religion, is liberating for women (or men), quite the reverse.
Apologies for the diversion but the point has to be made.
Doesn’t matter what he asks really

It's scary how well his tactic of completely ignoring what Kier says works. The Speaker lets him get away with it too. He just goes in there and at every opportunity he just says the next pre-prepared bit regardless of what the question was, provided he can read the piece of paper anyway. Usually takes him a sentence or two to get on to a completely different subject, throw in a few key words and a stumble or three. Bonus points for a Latin phrase.
The Speaker lets him get away with it too.
lindsay Hoyle has been absolutely pathetic in the role of speaker. The way he is with Boris reminds me of those middle class parents who sip their wine and smile indulgently as their child charges around the pub, screaming.
We don't want to impose any boundaries on him because it might stifle his creativity
Boris realised a long time ago that he can basically do what the hell he likes and get away with it, so thats what he does
It’s scary how well his tactic of completely ignoring what Kier says works.
Politics today is **** all to do with policies and what it is actually going on on the ground.
It is perception management, othering, and using different channels to feed different prejudices.
We have got the politics we deserve as a country of insular, knuckle dragging, philistine halfwits.

PMQ is just this now, really. There were a few early stumbles by DePfeffel, but he soon realised there was no requirement to answer the question. Just come back with some half-arsed quip & move onto the next one.
The latest (well, for the last God knows how many months) seems to be "we vaccinate, they vacillate...." and so it goes on.
and so it goes on
And it will go on as long as the electorate are impressed by boorish bullshit. Seeing as how the electorate are boorish bullshitters I can't see an end to it.
The latest (well, for the last God knows how many months) seems to be “we vaccinate, they vacillate….”
repeated again today.
He was rattled today, because he knows in the issue of racism he hasn’t got a leg to stand on. All people need to do is quote his own words back at him
So he went with his other well worn tactic: bare-faced lying.

Yeah, so busy laying the culture war trap down for Starmer to fall into, that they hadn't noticed they'd fallen into it themselves.
Idiots
Don't be so despondent, the different issues brewing up are likely to have a major effect on many people and the territory can change pretty quickly. Rashford et al have helped show that not all the football supporters are lemons, people can be educated and persuaded if they're given a lead. However the LP have rejected MMT for May's NMMT and playing catch with the tories. If and when the matters hit the fan, the LP will gain nothing from any anti-government actions and protest, but will be on the sidelines saying that demonstrators should get all the kickings they deserve. The LP becoming small, irrelevant and unaccountable does fit the agenda of some of their backers: a party where self-selecting rightwingers find a safe space to pick up a nice income and lifestyle whilst simultaneously talking trickle down and kissing the a of big business.
Does “we” include all his cabinet?
https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/priti-patel-will-not-condemn-booing-fans-kgmln2765
The government have co-opted an approach used in the USA… “we don’t condone racist behaviour, but we do support those who fight back against anti-racist measures and messages”. Fingers crossed it’s starting to fall apart now.
This will blow over & normal poisonous culture war service will be resumed
Because if you strip away the culture war stuff, the Tories have very little else.
The Tories don't need anything else. They win on account of no opposition.
Boris didn't invent ignoring the question. Been going on as long as I can remember.

Full MemberBoris didn’t invent ignoring the question. Been going on as long as I can remember.
Sure, but he's mastered it. People used to much about giving half answers, or turning the question to a direction they want it to go. Cameron used to be an artist at this. But all wasted effort when it turns out you can just answer "YER MAW SMELLS" to everything
no opposition
Meme of the year. But only one party is in government. Only one person is PM. Only one person is Home Secretary… we can’t keep blaming the actions of Miliband/Corbyn/Starmer and Burnham/Abbott/Thomas-Symonds for the actions of this government. If there really is “no opposition” then there is no need for the PM and his Home Secretary to do anything other than what they think is right… they had no need to play the “you boo the anti-racist players if you want to” game.
They win on account of no opposition.
Come on now. Thats not fair. Between them, Tyrone Mings and Marcus Rashford have repeatedly humiliated the government over the last 12 months 😉
I hope that todays encounter and the last few days has shown that maybe it might actually be worth the Labour Parties time to engage in the Tory's culture war, instead or running scared from it, now that we appear to have seen its limits
Maybe they shouldn't have required an Aston Villa centre back to show them where those limits were
If Boris Johnson is planning to ban on line racists from football matches, will he also ban racist journalists from Parliament? One can only dream 😕
Editted because he should be called Johnson
ban racist journalists from Parliament?
Column writers, rather than actual journalists, yes?
I stand corrected kelvin 🙂
ban racist journalists from
Parliament?becoming prime minister
Banning racists from the tory party would create a black hole.
maybe it might actually be worth the Labour Parties time to engage in the Tory’s culture war, instead or running scared from it
I doubt it. It's been ingrained into the Labour leadership not to touch it with a bargepole, after all they still need the votes of those folk who share Johnsons and Patel's views on "talking a knee" to get themselves elected into government.
Labour front benchers are happy to follow the lead of footballers… rather than lead themselves… whether that is “cowardice” or simply trying to avoid making the issues party political, I’m not sure… I’m inclined to the former… but it is the case that the Conservatives have tried to get taking the knee to be seen as “woke” or “leftist” rather than a protest against racism.
