I think the greased pigglet is dead no matter what happens. so it's almost a moot point.

The Question is, is it better he's ousted from the inside? Or should we have a GE? that's a far more complex conundrum.

If there was a general election Johnson would be quite likely to lose his seat.

Now maybe, But the longer he holds on and looks like the plucky underdog...

The number ten insiders keep blathering on about him sticking around to grow the economy. The bit that is missing is how he will do that.
He's had nearly three years and has so far demonstrated chuff all ability to do it, let alone during the self inflicted festering wound we've currently got caused by brexit

To my mind, it's clearly an abuse of the Royal Prerogative if Boris calls a GE now, and it further highlights what a bad idea repealing the Fixed-Term Parliaments Act was.

A GE doesn't serve the national interest in any way. Boris is just desperate to hold onto power for his own sake and will cause sheer chaos to do so.

Watching GB News for a different vibe. They've got his dad Stanley on who swears vehemently that there's no way Boris will resign...

Well, he’s right… he won’t… Conservative MPs need to move him on, and fast.

Catching up after work - anyone drawing comparisons between Boris and Trump in their delusional inability to admit the game's up?

Simon Hart MP ^^ doesn't even give a reason for his resignation! Isn't it usual to think of a reason for resigning?

I guess he is assuming that no reason is necessary as everyone else is doing it and he doesn't want to miss the opportunity of a ministerial post under the next leader.

The difference between a democracy and a strongman dictatorship is that in the latter the men in grey suits would have discussed Boris’s resignation via the medium of small arms.

So the question arises, is it easier to change an unwanted leader in a democracy or a dictatorship. Discuss.

Please note this is an intellectual discussion and I am not advocating the use of force to remove PMs who have overstayed their welcome.

Nadine resplendent in her lovely blue summer frock. Could be worse people to be holed up with.

Like Eva Braun or Carla Petacci?

I believe he’s just offered himself up for a ministerial position.

He’s so desperate Boris will probably make him Chancellor tomorrow. We’re well into Caligula’s horse territory now

When we were warned about a summer of discontent

Who was expecting the Conservative Party to go on strike?

If the Con party did all go on strike, the economy may just be less ****ed than its going to be with the current morons in charge.

This is more likely to be like Churchill's result at Galipoli, rather than at Dunkirk or the skies over Kent.  With the youth of the day  once again harmed the most for absolutely no benefit.

Braverman on Peston stating that johnson should go; also confirming that, in event of a leadership campaign, she will stand as a candidate.

Tory vultures; shut the **** up going on about tax cuts - you one trick liars. One economic 'policy' wheeled out like a roulette table.

Could've done it ages ago.

Vulture Tory MPs looking desperate - "it's time to get rid of this woke rubbish."

I can imagine this has a bearing on his not wanting to go today!

34 Neville Chamberlain 2 years, 348 days
35 Boris Johnson 2 years, 347 days

So I have a letter written by her in my house somewhere, and she is telling me that BoJo is the right person for the job and 100% has her backing and support.
I think she might need to write to me again and admit that she is a poor judge of character

I love the idea of Boris doing a Trump and instigating an uprising

Trumps supporters were/are all tooled up survivalists from Idaho with a stack of assault rifles and a pick up truck, Boris’s core voters are pensioners from Eastbourne with a collection of China teapots

Blame widespread voter fraud for the VOC. Offer Mike Lindell a position in the cabinet. Give Rudy asylum and make him attorney general?

Maybe how for a vote of no confidence by Labour - then Tories have to vote for him or go into a general election whilst simultaneously trying to oust and replace him.

Other than that I've no idea

He’ll claim that he has a mandate from the people, and the MPs in parliament are getting in the way of him delivering. He’s king of the world, not just Prime Minister. And he’ll use every trick he can to make it stick for as long as he can. I can see it ending up in court, and then it’ll be judges and lawyers getting in the way of him delivering. And anyone explaining why this is all so dangerous for our country, well they’ll be journalists, columnists and other politicians (the one’s you can’t trust, not like him) getting in the way of him delivering.
