Ian Blackford good quality and to the point as usual.
And thus will be lost on Johnson’s core support – or dismissed as an elitist or somesuch.
According to a Daily Mail reading, Conservative voting relative of mine
"Yes, but he's Scottish, they don't have any say in things [in Westminster]... You've got your own parliament."
A few us left the room at that point. But it shows what our fellow citizens think.
A crumb of comfort,
Met up with right wing Brexit uncle over the Easter weekend. He said he won't vote Tory again until Boris and the entire shit-show of a front bench has gone.
He said he'd vote for the actual Monster Raving Looney Party rather than the incumbent monster raving loonies.
The longer he stays in office the better for the country in the long run, I'm more worried that if he goes it will give the Tories more time to re-imvent themselves in time for the next election.
The Tories are imposing a three line whip for Thursdays vote. So they’re obviously concerned that many of their MPs might, even if they’re too spineless to vote against, ‘do a Boris’ and find somewhere else they pressingly need to be
Ah well it looks like even one of the Brexit cretins can see which way the wind is blowing. Maybe, just maybe there's hope . . .
That's an excellent letter. (Ignoring the "Got Brexit Done" aspect)
Anyone else think the time for rational debate has passed?
Personally, I'd be happy to see some more direct action.
I think Harper is ahead of things
He knows Johnson has to come up and apologies for another 4 fines.
Every time they have to come out and v defend this his MPs look ever more desperate.
Johnson knows all this, but he just wings it, one crisis at a time, his only hope that events can overtake the situation the way they have with Ukraine
Anyone think the Met might dump on him tomorrow?
Do•s a anyone remember “ a Porky Prime Cu•t scratched on the record?
Apparently a highly talented anal ogest
Arist sorry artist peace .
That was the good old days when professional s could actually string free words togather.
All of the newspapers are screaming at him to go on their front pages this morning. Well, apart from the obvious ones of the Mail and tha Sun who don't even have it as a side story!
So a whole demographic of readers will be blind to the outcry Johnson has caused. Talk about manipulating the media (or more precisely your donors manipulating it for you) for your own gains.
Swayne talking about capturing asylum seekers and deporting them as if they were 18th century criminals.
Hey, that's "my" MP. Will be amazed if he doesn't get another 60% plus vote in next election just like the last 25 years - nice people where I live...
I suppose if they can stretch it out longer, people will have gotten used to the new norm of the rules not applying to Tory MPs and the PM.
I’m sure that Rees Mogg will be around soon enough to tell you how silly you were to follow them to the letter as they do that history revision of what happened.

Same as Fabricant. A prosperous rural / semi-rural constituency with 95% or more identifying as 'White British' and only marginally in the 'firing line' of immigration (no huge intensive agriculture from what I can see) and yet voted 58% Leave.
I'm alright Jack and **** everyone else. A safe Tory seat if ever there was one.
Just heard a bloke from a Railway magazine (yep they still exist - I thought they were just there so 14 year old boys could slip a jazz mag inside before going to the counter) on R4 sounding infinitely more ministerial than anyone from the 'Top Team'. A bloke from a railway magazine...
Mind you, because he spoke well and spoke sense he is probably an unpatriotic, elitist, gloomster. And because he also dared to mention that rail offers on the continent are far more generous, I reckon he's a fifth columnist traitor as well.
😆
Anyone see Rees Mogg on the news comparing Johnson getting fined to cricket umpiring?!
I was gutted the journo wasn't quick enough to say "Yes it is like cricket - when you don't think you're going to get caught out and then you get caught out"
Meanwhile in Robert Jenrick’s constituency, more Brexit benefits
It's what they voted for. Bet they're chuffed to bits.
In cricket, the done thing is to walk when you know you are out. (At least it used to be)
"Anyone else think the time for rational debate has passed?"
What is this rational debate you are talking about?
"Personally, I’d be happy to see some more direct action."
Soon come.

Ah yes, cricket - all jolly sporting and fair play and gentlemanly and a pint of shandy on the village green.
So nothing at all like the current Cabinet then.
In cricket, the done thing is to walk when you know you are out
That too. Also was gutted the journo didn't kick his teeth in for being such a condescending prick. "Oh you don't understand.." grr
Anyone think the Met might dump on him tomorrow?
Would be funny
Even then the Tories too spineless to vote against Johnson on Thursday
Even funnier would be the fries of foul play from the Tories if the next fine drops just b4 the local elections 😁
Not on johnson's agenda for meeting with modi:
- india's equivocation re russian invasion of ukraine; some limited criticism but no outright condemnation
- modi's refusal to impose sanctions on russia and belarus
- infosys
Also was gutted the journo didn’t kick his teeth in for being such a condescending prick.
That's how you get your charter 'reviewed', funding cut, etc.
JRM is a copper-bottomed bastard, everyone knows it, I guess his attitudes align with enough of the electorate for it not to be an issue.
🤷♂️
Not on johnson’s agenda for meeting with modi:
He doesn't do agendas, that would require detail. Various parts of the press were reporting that the visit to Ukraine was little more than a photo opportunity for him; there was no formal agenda of who to meet, topics to discuss etc, he simply wanted to be seen walking around bombed out streets "showing support".
Still, I bet Mogg still has to pinch himself occasionally to remind himself of his luck.
"Every time I take this piss out of the electorate, they love me more. Cretins".
Various parts of the press were reporting that the visit to Ukraine was little more than a photo opportunity for him
Isn't that just his entire life? He's a man with all the depth of a puddle. Utterly devoid of substance, he believes in nothing other than himself.
Everything is just a photo op. Yet more narcissistic self-promotion. It's the only thing he can drum up any interest in. Hence the endless hi-viz and the hard hats and the military hardware. His terminal insecurity and yearning for some form of validation is tragic really. Or it would be if we weren't all suffering the results of it

Your regular reminder that Rees-Mogg acts that way because he knows that it winds you up. It's as well to let it wash over you, and remind yourself that his persona is entirely made up. How fragile must his ego be to have to hide behind an entirely invented persona because he's clearly very ashamed that his maternal grandfather was a lorry driver and his mum a typist.
^^^
Yes, but he acts that way (winding people up who accept that the world is a complex place and can't be 'solved' by waving a Union Jack and threatening to chin people), because it appeals to enough of the electorate.
The thinking man's idiot and the idiot's thinking man.
He doesn't care anyway. He made the decision to be a weasely little shit early on. The more he does it, the richer he gets. Why stop?
This Guardian article on the Oxford Union is worth a read. While it's true to say Johnson (I won't call him Boris) has little interest in detail, he is good at substance. The Union has no actual power so it's all about winning the argument, whatever it happens to be that day.
He doesn’t care anyway.
I think the image Rees-Mogg portrays to the world is very important to him. He's been like this since he went to Oxford as a scared skinny bookish friendless misfit. I think behind that image he's still terrified that he'll be found out.
Well well welly well, had response back from my MP in fancy paper from the house of commons no less. Basically, "yes Boris was naughty but only a little bit naughty and only the once for nine minutes (not another four times at least) and he definitely didn't lie to parliament (as such) because he's too thick to know when he's breaking his own rules, besides don't you know theres a war on?"
Was a copy and paste job as it was titled FPNs and I asked about the ministerial code. Who thinks I should get back on to him?
Rees Mogg, like Voldamort but without the charm and wit, I think I read this on here but certainly worth repeating.

No you need to get as many different people within your constituancy to email him (and threaten to vote next most likely to win party) as I do believe they gauge the ill feeling by numbers of emails not the content of an email.

they absolutely love the attention
Fabricant is so far up Boris’ arse he comes to parliament in a Boris costume every day.
Is everyone writing to their Tory MPs starting by stating they have always previously supported the party with their vote. No point writing without doing that, not one of them gives a shit for anyone's opinion if you weren't already one of theirs
Well, even the most cursory, insincere, faux contrition of yesterday is long gone.
Business as usual. Move along now... nothing to see here
Anyway... Ukraine....

TBH first time I heard/saw him I thought he was a comedian doing a parody.
Hmm I do think a lot of Allegra Stratton in regards to how she seems to have been the only person who got shafted over party gate and apparently Sir S brought her up.
I think Allegra Stratton's problem was that she was the only person anywhere near Downing Street in possession of a sense of shame
Not an inconvenience anyone else seems particularly burdened with
BJ: Nosh Job on Sir

That and the fact she is a pleb like us.
