We're looking to get a new boiler fitted before the current one goes kaput. I've been told by the first guy that's come to quote that the flue is out of regs and therefore I need the boiler relocating, increasing costs. Apparently this is because the white pipe isn't UV rated and therefore shouldn't be outside and the black section can't be moved back due to the overhang and the possibility of fumes coming back into the garage.

It then can't stay in its current location due to needing bends in the pipe to extract to the wall behind.

Is this all correct? Said flue to give a better idea.

Can it be done with a 90 degree bend to the side wall?

That's basically what my plumber is doing to mine tomorrow. It currently vents to the rear of the house but an extension is going there so it now needs to vent to the side.

I'm no expert, but I'd get another opinion. A quick google seems to show black extension pipes as being available...

Affixes to an existing Baxi horizontal flue terminal to allow exhaust plume gasses to escape in a different location, to avoid windows, vents or structures.

Relates to Baxi I know, but I'd be sure they're available for other boiler makes.

You can have bends and you can extend flues, but you need manufacturers data and the installer's experience to do it

Ideally the flue should be short and straight

It might be too close to that opening tho

That looks like a Worcester flue, the white section is metal, pretty certain UV won't attack that. Get another plumber

Thanks all.

@bear it is a Worcester currently but we'll be going to an Ideal.

Ah think the ideal is plastic. Change boiler, cheaper than re-siting
