never thought i liked bobs stuff, but was at a funeral the other day of a young fly fishing friend, and a bob track was played, and it was just amazing. but don't know the track name. it was very summery and chilled and....nice. do you have any super-fav tracks i could start with??
I really like his early stuff..."Bringing It All Back Home" is probably my favourite album, though really anything up to John Wesley Harding (and many beyond) are simply classic albums.
Desolation Row, live.
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid soundtrack.
Blood on the tracks album.
All faves of mine.
Hurricane.
Should have used Shazam...
Sorry, no suggestions, really. Always appreciated his skill as a songwriter, but less impressed with his singing. His earlier albums are better, before he became a caricature of himself. It might be worth going on Last FM and just let that play random tracks and making a note of what takes your fancy. Good luck, hope you find some stuff you like. 😀
tangled up in blue is one of my favourites
+1 for blood on the tracks too
appreciated his skill as a songwriter, but less impressed with his singing
think of it less as singing and more as performance. he often challenges the boundaries of 'singing', but is one hell of a performer.
he can do most of his songs about half a dozen different ways. often his live gigs don't have a set-list, just whatever he fancies. tough for those playing with him!
Just like a woman
I'm quite partial to a burst of the moany old so-and-so myself.
For that real 'stick it to The Man' vibe, try:
Subterranean Homesick Blues
Watching the River Flow
Blowin' in the Wind
The Times They are A-Changin'
Maggie's Farm
The Mighty Quinn
Lay Lady Lay
Etc etc...
Hard Rain (live album) is one of my favourites. His range is incredible, less interesting imo is his more recent stuff since "shot of love"
Anything written by him and sung by someone else.
The Girl from the North Country with Johnny Cash is a fav, also the Hurricane and Mozambique.
+1 for Hurricane... but 'Positively 4th Street' is my favourite.
Any of his 1960's albums basically.
One of my fave songs is boots of spanish leather.
Another vote for Hurricane
