Always liked these.
This is a pretty thing, doesn’t look too sea worthy and certainly a damp boat to sail... but it’s fine bow and crafted decks give it a sleek shape..

@saxon. Diver support, Surveyed sea bed and pipelines mostly I think.
He loved the job, mum less so, being at home with two young kids for weeks on end on her own. He started on the top on the outside when they launched and recovered then did pilot qualification.that may not be the exact model he piloted BTW, closest I could find.

Ooooh! Five-o's, hairy boats in a blow! Laser's were my thing as a youth, although weighing in at 10 stone, I struggled in anything above a force four!

Yeah they really are nice.
I aporove the raf launch aswell got a purposeful look about them. Bet they looked amazing from the water level after bobbing about in the drink for a while.

I'm on holiday and in 15 minutes due to start my 4th session towards level 1 dinghy whatjamacallit, had a few group goes in a wayfarer and a quick solo spin in a Harley (fairly breezy!) Wife has just disappeared off on a island guided MTB ride via yacht 🙂
Latest YouTube favourite is Samsonboatco, some disgustingly skilled Brit pulling apart and lovingly rebuilding an old wooden yacht in the USA.

It was originally designed as a pure rowing cruiser, and if you take the rig off it and the amas, that's what you have.

our family yacht, sadly sold last summer - It was the folks boat and they are now past it in their late 80s and it was too big an upkeep for us. Many happy memories !
My dad and I sail a Scorpion. Here's us cutting about at the national champs in Weymouth last year, with a spinnaker downhaul that's 6" too short.
Used to race this (Ultra 30s...... first ever televised sailing/racing on the BBC back in 1990)

Got bored with racing and now really enjoy just messing around with the family on something more comfy (this is a lovely Hanse 57 in Croatia)
This autumn we're going further afield to the BVI for 12 days with friends on one of these cats (but bigger) - can't wait!
Although this is one of my favourite places to be (bass fishing or messing with the family.... again!)

Blob, I think my mate is doing it. As a few sail maker chums will be no doubt. I owned a beautiful harper built series 2 GP a fair few years back now. Bought to sail with my wife! She struggled with the Genoa loads and could reach the spinny Pole mast eye to clip pole on! We actually led our first open to the windward mark but she couldn’t get the bloody pole on! Boat sold shortly after for an rs200 which was also sold as she became pregnant!

Some corking boats on here. I still have crewing an Int 14 on my bucket list and I have huge affection for the 505. I remember sailing one as a teenager a couple of times and it blew me away. I loved sailing and racing ISOs and Laser 4000s but the 505 was something special.
There's some fantastic new classes out there but there's something about the more ''traditional" classes that still appeals.
Most of all though I love seeing the kids enjoying boats - kayaks and dinghies - and learning new skills.
I am an avowed landlubber and live pretty much as far from the coast of blighty as is possible, however, I do have an interest in a boat company and have been getting more involved in the construction side over the last year.
The craft are all made using a resin infusion technique (no hand lay glass fibre here me ol' duck) which means we are getting brilliant consistency in strength and weight.
C-Fury make this 4.2m ish catamaran rib with a hydrofoil (goes like a spanked weasel)
and recently developed and produce this deep-V for SIT

There's a load of other secret squirrel stuff going on as well which is taking up a bit of time and we should be pushing some marketing again soon after the lull in the marine markets as well as developing a shorter 3.5m C-fury aimed at the yacht tender market with smaller size limitations, but it's a fantastic little company making amazing quality craft. And it's a giant leap from spreadsheet wrangling.
