[Closed] Blocking up an unused doorway - rough cost.

Door going from out utility room to outside is never used and we want to get rid of it.
So what do you think the rough cost of blocking up the hole (presuming I remove the old door and frame and replace with breeze block), render outside and plaster inside is going to be?

40 -50 block, wall starters or similar, sand, cement, insulation, bonding and plaster, skirting

Materials - £150 with change
Labour- £200 for 2xdays (1 day to brick up and a day to match render and plastering)

Suppose it depends where you are in the country a bit to

Cavity wall.

Carlos, I thought about £300-£350. The chap I've had round had quoted £700 but it turns out he's a decorator and would bring a chap over to do the work while he........ dunno!

I've already got the block so that would save a bit.

We just closed ours, then put a bookshelf in front of it.

The door is now going rotten so it needs to go.

We've just been quoted £500 to fill in a door from outside into garage, no rendering or plastering but a lot of damp proof course action as door is below ground level and stairs need to be removed too.

I would check that you don't need to get building control involved.

Ours are getting funny about anything that may affect the insulation values of outside walls.

And there's also potentially the fire escape issue.

I shouldn't worry about u-values - a brick wall is likely better than a crap door.

that's what I thought but if I replace a crap SG window with a good DG one I still need to get a certificate from building control/the installer.

It seems you can have what you like if it's been there a while but if you do anything new it has to meet current regs so I can imagine them insisting on checking insulation and stuff on the new wall?

The doomed door is literally 60cm from our front door so not an issue.
