We had fish and chips the other night from our local chippie. Afterwards the two of us who had fish experienced light tingling and slight numbness on our tongues and in our mouths.
Previously, I have been victim to supermarket fish which had been bleached and consequently inedible. I'm guessing this is to extend the shelf life of the product. This was exposed in the press some years ago as somewhat common practice in supermarkets. ( This was in the US I add.)
I'm wondering if this could be the cause of our symptoms as neither of us have any seafood allergies and bad practices have no international boundaries.
Ideas?

Coke battered fish?
In all seriousness, that might not be far from the truth - it could be bicarb/baking powder that has been added to the batter. Not as sexy as coke, granted.
