supersessions - you miss my point. I have bivvyed many many nights - in all sort of locations. Unless the weather is great it is a thoroughly miserable experience and has no advantages unless you are saving significant weight. In the UK in winter it is foolhardy at best.

You can get an air bed with down in. Lovely warm and comfortable.

I'll do a full write up at some point but we had a great time. Kit wasn't too bad for 3 days in winter but I'd lighten up a bit, take less food. First 2 days hated carrying my waterproofs around but then on the Sunday the heavens opened.

Bivvy bag and my homemade DPC tarp worked well if not a bit bulky.
