We will be in touch
Bill Smith was well known in fell running circles and very popular. Some of the fell runners on here may have heard of his book "stud marks on the summit" he sadly died a few days ago.
I've read the book, back in my fell running days, but never knew him other than as the author. 🙁
I met him a couple of times at races and we used to pass each other as we both ran home from work in the late 80's. He always said hello and made some nice comments to others about me which I found out later.

It's a massive and poor taste cliche, but what a way to go!
Good effort fella, and thank you.
he sadly died a few days ago
Rather longer ago than that by the sounds of things 🙁
oh dear how very sad.
75 and still fell running, gotta hand it to him, that's a good innings and a great exit.
That doesn't sound like a good way to go. Had no-one missed him for up to three weeks?
Very sad 🙁
i understand from yannis on the fra website that he had a heart attack. i am not sure but i think he had a sister but yes sad that he was not missed sooner.
