Just a quick question, my new rented house has an outhouse that leaks like a sieve and at present is totally inappropriate for bicycle storage.

Aside from putting the bike in a big plastic bag each time I stow it away, is there anything on the market that would enable me to store my bike in this damp place without it sustaining any damage?

Thanks in advance.

Hmmmm. You need, and I appreciate this is totally off the wall, something waterproof to put over your bike...

What's the roof made of, and why is it leaking? Remarkably low tech and cheap to fix things, roofs.

Really? Aren't bikes, you know, at least a bit weatherproof? Plazzy bag on the saddle, job done!

Whoa!

Yeah, I had kind of got that far, but I was wondering if just putting a cover over it would suffice to protect my expensive beauty or whether there was some sort of big plastic box that had been designed especially for the purpose.

But yeah, I appreciate that I was kind of asking for that.

sadly the shed is not so much a shed as an outhouse. It is made of concrete and has some seriously decayed I-beams as a testament to the corrosive power of the water coming through. So no staples and definitely no plastic bag on the saddle.

Apparently at the height of the wet season there can be up to a foot of standing water in the place. 🙁

I'd find somewhere else to store the bike - it'll just get condensation over it all the time in there.

Big ****-off sheet of plastic weighted down with rocks on the roof?

Or big ****-off sheet of plastic over bike?

..and bike stood on bricks out of the water.

That is what I fear and hence I was wondering if there was anything I could mitigate the problem with. I have a feeling the other half will go spare if I spent all winter dragging my bike through the living room to the spare room (much as I would like to).

for the money you might as well just buy one of the 'store the bike in the yard in our mini-shed' things and ignore the wet room.

Just need a grand for one of these. :o(

Amusing to reflect that most people buying these will spend more on their sheds than on their bikes. Losers.

had one of these in mind;

you can get metal ones that are more secure/expensive as well.
