Parcelforce will only cover musical instruments upto £150 so which service?
In person on the train
How far? I would really consider driving/train, up to around 100/150miles.
Bath to Fort William. Driving isn't really an option.
So it's not going by ship then?
I've always used the case inside a much larger case made from thick corroflute with suitably folded big bubble wrap. And insured the frick out of it. And made the purchaser pay.
I,ve done that with guitars and relatively fragile radio control glider costing a lot more than that. All got there OK.
Try DHL, I sent a watch through them insured. Not sure about the pack size though as it has to fit in one of their specific boxes.

That really depends. If anyone knows a courier which goes from Portishead to the Scottish highlands and is willing to make a drop-off in Fort William...maybe?
Not sure that any of the big couriers insure instruments. Maybe try calling a couple of luthiers or custom builders and see how they arrange it. Could be part of their business insurance, but worth asking I reckon.
Not United...
How about flying with it from Bristol to Fort William? Probably won't cost any more than using a courier.
And you'll get a nice little trip out of it.
About £59 if you leave it until October:

I can ask my Luthier friend if you like? He is based in Bristol.
Can you fly from Bristol to FW?

If you wouldn't mind. I'm sure most music shops in the UK must have a means of dealing with this in the age of internet shopping.
No, SC in Leeds back in 06.
Just mailed him will let you know
You fly to Inverness, I'm sure your customer could drive the 60-odd miles to meet you.
I've just sent a text to a mate. He recently had two of his guitars sent back via currier from Jimmy Moon. One was a 1973 Telecaster and the other a 1974 Strat.
My mate can't remember who delivered his guitars. Give the shop a call, I'm sure they'll point you in the right direction. Moon Guitars
Couldn't we just do a nationwide STW pass the parcel? Everyone does 10 miles, should be there in no time 8)
Might be worth asking Vintage & Rare Guitars - a shop in Bath - for advice on shipping. You never know.
"I use an agent because I'm lazy. They do all the international customs declarations and then I bill my customers. They use DHL mainly, or FedEx to certain countries." So said my aforementioned luthier friend . Not much help?
We send ours* using DPD however if you don't have a DPD account this won't be much use to you.
*lots and lots of them.
Thanks for your help, fellas. I used Direct Courier Solutions who agreed to insure for £3000 and deliver the next day with scheduled (1hour prior warning) delivery.
Perfect service.
make sure you over protect it. Parcel farce managed to drive a metal spike through all the packing I used.
