My son has got an Nvidia Shield K1; absolutely tramps all over my iPad Mini. It's meant to headline some clever chip for gaming, but it means it's a superb tablet overall.

I probably won't get an iPad again having seen how good android tablets are now....

On that nvidia could someone measure the visible screen once it's turned on please.
If it's more iPad mini than nexus 7 I'd be happy.
And does it ZOOM STW.

If you look at STW on an older iPad you can't pinch zoom the page.
Does it work on the nvidia?

On Chrome at least, the mobile site doesn't. It doesn't really need it though, the thread fits the page well in portrait mode.

If you tick the 'request desktop site' button however, pinch zoom works just fine.

Let us know how you get on. Think I'll get one myself as the iPad just seems a rip-off nowadays.

I'd still like the height and length of the visible screen please.

As I said, I won't see my son for a couple of weeks, so anything detailed would need to be off the website.

It's more iPad mini-sized, slightly wider aspect though.

Sorry, you weren't specific enough.

108x173mm, give or take a mil. It's the same size corner-to-corner as the iPad Mini, but a wider aspect ratio. (The Mini is 120x160).

I can't immediately compare it to a Nexus 7 as I don't know where it is, but it will be bigger (8 being larger than 7 and all).

I'm on a Samsung Galaxy Tab A, bought it last summer as it seemed to be getting lots of good reviews for the money. Paid 175 quid from Amazon, so unless the John Lewis one is a newer version I'd be shopping around a bit. Does everything I need it to do, nice big screen. Most of what I'm using it for is on Chrome, don't need to zoom (can't anyway) as the threads fill the width of the screen. Also use MS OneNote/OneDrive/the rest of Office as required.

Yet to find something that I want it to do which it can't, which I suppose is a good thing! I use it with a bluetooth keyboard as if it was a cheap touchscreen laptop, it's ideal.

Is there a website where you can compare the specs of rival Android tablets?

I tend to just google "model-name vs model-name" TBH.

GSM Arena include tablets in their comparison page (Phone Arena do something very similar too).

Isn't the battery life on the shield about 4 hours though? I suppose 20,000 external battery packs are cheap these days!

Really like my Lenovo Yoga, nice little stand, good speakers and the battery lasts for ages.
