Hi,
I would like a camera for Christmas, now I've been asked which one I want and to get it ordered. ๐
The problem is which one to go for, the two main contenders are either a Sony DSC-TX10 or a Panasonic Lumix FT-3. Both solid, water/shockproof cameras.
The outsider is a Canon S95, it's meant to take a lot better quality pics than the other two but it's not designed to take a knock and it's not waterproof. I'm worried it might end up sitting in my bag too much as I'll be trying to keep it clean and dry.
There is also the new Nikon AW100 which I don't know much about, it only caught my eye because you can get it with a camo finish (ridiculous, I know). ๐
Anybody with any reasons not to buy any of the above? I have my own reasons for chosing them so would like to here of any bad points instead of good ones.
Cheers.
You've checked out the main review sites yes?
The Sony is a lovely looking bit of kit - it's the only one that doens't look industrial equippment, which is why Mrs Grips went for it. However it has a sliding cover for the front, as do a few others. This to me seems like grit could get caught underneath it and scrape the front or possibly even the lens, although camera shops I spoke to had never heard of it.
The Pany has no cover, no moving parts, which seems like a good thing to me, but then again there's no protection for the lens so it's open to grit and stones etc itself.
Cynic-al, It's looking on them and some other forums that have led me to the above choices, thanks.
Molgrips, has your wife used the in-built photo stitching yet? It's meant to do a very good job of it, this, and it's slim size are why it's one of my choices. Cheers.
It's alright thanks, I've just ordered the Sony!
