[#4773850]

A year into MTB and getting out a lot here in Sunny Scotland despite the shortage of mid week daylight at the moment.

At present I have blackberry and use Map my Ride only. My works just about to send me an iPhone 4S and would be grateful if you could give me inputs into some of the best apps. I find map my ride pretty handy.

I do a lot of local stuff in addition to the odd trail centre blast.

I like being able to check the route I have went, times, etc and keep a log. Often forget to stop the thing tracking for a while when I get home and start cleaning the bike tho.

Strava was one I had heard about. A good mapping app for when I get lost and am off map would be good - on the blackberry it was hopeless !

All inputs on useful apps would be great ?

Also - what do most people in the uk use to map and publish rides - would be great to check what others locally etc are doing and get some ideas for new bits to explore on the MTB.

Many Thanks.....Paul.

Hi Paul.

Endomondo to track where you've been.
ViewRanger to tell you where you are*

* need to purchase OS maps (or tiles) and download to your phone. All done 'in app' so easy but OS aren't cheep. I recon I've spent the best part of £25 on tiles to cover my regular riding haunts. Really good app though and no need for a connection which is priceless when on the trail.
