out of interest anyone using/used a behringer uca202 to play music through a hifi from their pc?

i'm looking to get an amp and some nice monitor/small speakers on my pc and from what i've read its a good bit of kit.

p.s. if anyone can recommend some decent small speakers to look for (buying used so can be older models)?

I have just ordered one.

I have 2 "decent" USB DACs but want a cheap one for the old hifi in my shed.

I will compare it against the more expensive ones and let you know what I think tomorrow.

any joy gobuchul? can a 20quid spend and some carefully sourced 2nd hand hifi kit make my home office a happier place sonically?

Just compared it to my GoVibe VestAmp USB DAC.

I got that off Ebay s/h for about £70. They retailed for about £200 originally.

I could hear no difference between the same FLAC tracks.

It's a big improvement over the headphone socket on the laptop.

My shed set up is a Onkyo A/V receiver and a pair of old TDL floorstanders. Not an audiophile set up by any means but makes a decent enough sound.

The headphone amp function isn't as good as the more expensive DAC.

I would recommend it.

Got mine for £23 off Amazon.

Thanks gobuchul... I may give that a whirl.. I haven't run my system with a good source for over a decade so that sort of tweak could be pretty noticeable

I use a pair of small Behringer MS16 active monitors speakers, they accept both RCA input and 3.5mm jack - they are plugged into a usb mixer & laptop via an offboard DAC (not unlike yours).
Works well, but they're getting on a bit now and other brands may be better value these days. I bought 2nd hand, as value was important to me at the time. Sound plenty good enough for me.

I'm using one of the Maplin's DAC's ( http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/digital-to-analogue-audio-converter-a14kf) from my laptop and it's very decent.

It makes me wonder how cr8p peoples hifis must be when they can even suggest just running a cable from their PC's headphone socket...

@Gavtheoldskater and yunki - How did you get on it with it?

Well worth it IMO.
