Just taken out the bathroom as it was really on its last legs.
Planning on putting in a bathroom suite with shower oevr bath. Any suggestions for durable and funtional ones? Inparticular a robust shower screen that won't leak, durable bath (something that doesn't flex when you stand in it etc) and well made taps / shower. Classic designthat won't look dated in 5 years. Many thanks!

My vote is for a Carron Quantum SE bath, Merlyn screen and a Hansgrohe shower/bath filler combo, which combines the bath taps and shower in one unit. Depending on budget, not the cheapest but good reliable gear that can be serviced when required.
I've had four bathrooms from Victorian plumbing.
After 4 years one needed replaced because the taps were in the bath. As the bath flexed repeatedly the sealant failed. I resealed that bath once every 6months. This was exacerbated by cheaping out on the bath and buying a thin one.
The cure was to build some boxing out from the wall, have the taps come out of the wall and getting a thicker bath.
Bottom line- their stuff is fine, don't buy a thin bath
Nearly every hotel I've stayed in outside of the USA has Grohe (is it Hansgrohe now?) fittings. They obviously work.
Whatever the best deal as a package is what we always go for. They are all much of a muchness unless you are spending a lot of money on them which in our experience isn’t worth it. Just get a simple white suite that’s not too fashionable so it doesn’t date
I’d get an enamel bath. Not expensive and last very well. Composite/plastic ones are just nasty and look rubbish. Good local plumbers merchants will have lots of sizes. Mera showerscreens are good if fitted right. Plain white never dates in bathrooms.
I’d also get a thermostatic/shower bar for shower. Easy to replace if knackered and last better than electric in my experience and also look better.

The lad who did my bathroom a few years ago (he also does shop display bathrooms for more than 1 major DIY chain ) told me to avoid Victorian Plumbing, 'cheap s***e that doesn't last 5 mins' was his take on it
