chevy – be careful – you are treading on dangerous ground here

I get it, it's a private club.   However, the thread I raised about moderation was respectful and asked a serious question in a respectful manner - yet was summarily closed.  Hence this thread.

The rules, as I've been kindly linked to by @verses.  I've read 'em.  At no point have I breached any of them, as written there.  Respectful questions on a discussion forum are par for the course, no?

I've been a mod on a large forum.  I understand how tricky it can be.  The actions taken, unfortunately, seem thoughtless and overly authoritarian IMO.   I'd made a polite suggestion and wanted to discuss how things could be moderated more considerately given the import of the subject.   That's all I'd posted.

Then, effectively, I got lightly slapped for that.   That's a shame.   IMO, mods have a responsibility to enable free discourse - not kill it in a heavy-handed matter.   For me that's more important to when the topic under discussion is of particularly contentious import.

If wanting to discuss that puts me on "dangerous ground" then that's also quite sad really. 🙁
