How do i do this on stw, please.
First host the picture on the web with someone like Flickr or Picassa.
In Flickr you have an option above the picture called [b]share[/b] from the drop down menu cut the BBcode script and then paste it directly here without using IMG tags.

you need to host it somewhere first, Flikcr is handy for prosperity and http://imgur.com/ for just a quick pic.
Both provide links for sharing, you want the option for BB code copy and past the code into your post.

Coolio, but you don't need to use the IMG tags, just paste the code as it is from Flickr.
