This is a weird thing.
I have for years got a pleasurable buzzy feeling from stuff like going to see a dentist or doctor (or even once a solicitor re buying a house). Always thought it was weird and no-one else I mentioned it to seemed to know what I was on about.
I heard about this on a podcast recently:
http://theness.com/neurologicablog/index.php/asmr/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autonomous_sensory_meridian_response
And I reckon it's the thing I've experienced.
Turns out it's an internet phenomenon - and the weirdest thing is there's loads of videos on youtube (some with hundreds of thousands of views) where people pretend to be doctors or dentists and whisper a lot to try and recreate the response - eg. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REgN7Ka9Qb8
The videos don't work for me though - which is probably for the best. ๐
Anyone else get this? I realise I am probably setting myself up for massive piss-taking here!
Always thought it was weird
And you'd be right.
Unequivocally and without a doubt, that IS the most weird thing I've heard of. But hey man, whatever makes your scalp tingle ๐
Fascinating stuff though.
I'd rather there had been a consent check box at the start of that youtube link! It made me feel a bit strange and unsettled. Thanks. ๐ฏ ๐

It's really odd isn't it! But as you say, fascinating. I find the whole subculture of videos trying to provoke the stimulus really bizarre.

There are hundreds more videos if you enjoyed that unsettled feeling. ๐
I did look at another ASMR vid on youtube that had over a 5 million hits. The comments section provided untold comedy - worth it for that alone. ๐
Seems like you're getting into it!
(which vid? ๐ )
- Please don't say that.Seems like you're getting into it!
I have the strangest ...
