MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
As you may all be aware today is armed forces day. I think thank a thread to pass on messages of good will to those currently serving is a good idea as we owe them a huge debt!I am aware of a huge numbers of people on this forum who are armed forces.
I had the honor of marching in my local parade last year as I was in the army cadet force at the time but I have quit since.
Thank you to all of you who help keep us safe and ready to defend our nation at the drop of a hat.
4 bootnecks in as many days.....RIP lads.
Stevie Walker - Missed by all my good man.
Thank you lad and ladies, you are appreciated for all the good work you do.
RIP Lieutenant Richard Palmer (The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards)
19/03/1979 - 15/04/2006
Big big thanks to all our forces whoever and wherever they may be. Your work, courage and bravery is much appreciated. Keep safe all and RIP to those who have not made it back to barracks.
'nuff respct to all of you x
(coughs hesitantly to draw attention to slightly dissenting voice)
Of course, none of these parading heroes has anything to do with the death of Baha Mousa, and sundry other worthless, no-mark Ay-rabs, from torture and beatings while they were in the custody of the British armed forces in hell-hole prisons in Iraq.
Perish the thought!
Goodwill to all!
Sadly, the nation is concentrating on a 'battle' with the 'old enemy'.
Wendyball is far more important, seemingly.
Oi eldridge, it said, " Post your message of good will here "Like this :

ernie - our heroes would be mortified to see you hang the St. George's like that!
Edit: I have removed the comment myself, due to not wanting to be misunderstood or offend.

😕 .....go direct then :
correct simon but why post up I resisted even Barnes did. Perhaps us disenters should just have a day of shutting the f@ck up on the issue?
EDIT: Simon not a dig at you as you made lucid points as usual but replying to you replying to Eldridge.
I feel no good will to those members of our armed forces who have been beating, buggering, abusing and torturing civilians in various Arab/Islamic countries.
Senior officers are on record as saying that Baha Mousa's death brings shame on the British Army
And if I put up a post on here saying "The Waffen SS - post yout message of goodwill on here" I have no doubt that you'd be on here qustioning that premise, whether or not the original poster might want to restict people's replies
I wasn't trying to dissent, just reply to a comment about the general public being more concerned with football. I tried to write in the most gentle of terms that didn't cause offence. Apologies if I did.
.....go direct then :Fail again

So what's your problem then ?
MooMonkey wants to celebrate doctors .....despite Harold Shipman.
And comparing the British army with the Waffen SS ...........are you a complete idiot ❓
eldridge you cannot compare the entire armed forces of thsi country with the waffen SS though clearly some members of the forces need to be held to account. The average squaddy bears no resembalnce to the Waffen SS
ok then good will to troops who are doing nothing in the form of torturing
And comparing the British army with the Waffen SS ...........are you a complete idiot
No mate - you are
My point was that the OP cannot expect to control replies
So if anyone was extreme enough to post on here "Post your message of goodwill to the Waffen SS" - none of us would be supine enough to feel bound by the restriction to post goodwill. We'd all pile in and say how vile the Waffen SS was!
So I'm not going to be prevented, by an OP inviting me to be uncritical of the British armed forces, from sending posts that are critical of the British armed forces
If you think I compared the British armed forces to the SS, then you just can't read properly
When it comes to the Issraeli armed forces however.....
To the poor souls fighting a rich man's battle speed home safely!!!!!
Eldridge,
My spider-senses tell me that you are a bell-end.
Clear off to another forum.
Godspeed to all my mates and colleagues in theatre at this time.
Mike, why dont you "clear off" to an armed forces forum?
"If you think I compared the British armed forces to the SS, then you just can't read properly
When it comes to the Issraeli armed forces however....."
And you cannot spell correctly apparently.
Godspeed to all my mates and colleagues in theatre at this time.
You see that's just the problem that thinking people have with unthinking people (those with "spider senses" LOL)
German army belt buckles in WW1 and WW2 bore the legend "Gott mit uns"
Which for brainless, uncritical civilian supporters of armed forces loosely translates as "Godspeed to all my mates and collegues in theatre at this time"
In theatres such as Katyn, Lidice, Oradour, Tulle, Malmedy, My Lai, Srebrenitsa, Sabra and Shatila
And you cannot spell correctly apparently
And you cannot connect the current actions of the ISRAELI armed forces with the actions of the SS (see where the spelling comes in?) in the collective punishment of the French/Palestinian population for their legitimate resistence to armed occupation?
Collective punishment of the civilian population for legitimate resistance to military occupation of their country is a characteristic of both the IDF and the SS
eldridge, just go to bed, you insensitive moron.
Yes, we know all about the contradictions inherent in war:
However, some of us (even those of us that went to comprehensive schools, you patronising little dick) are able to separate those feelings from the gratitude that we feel towards the selfless individuals prepared to put their own lives at risk for the sake of others .
Best wishes to all members of our Armed Forces, wherever you are.

under a flag of parlay?
no white flags, or other considerations of "truce" were in operation at the time
If you hold a gun to someone's head, you give that person, or someone acting on his/her behalf, permission to kill you
Most gratifying to see this principle in action
eldidge-Member : never a truer description.
Best wishes to all troops serving at home and abroad.
