Just finished the above book - if anyone remembers the apache rescue attempt of a marine in Afghanistan then this book details it.. plus it has interactive pages that link you to a website with more information about apache helicopters and mission photos etc... good book if you like true war memoirs
Recommend me books of a similar ilk..

The only book based on helicopters in a military setting has to be Chickenhawk by Robert Mason.
From initial training right through his time in Vietnam to his departure from the US Army, it's compelling reading and an aye opener in places.
Definitely my choice of a must read.

I enjoyed Apache, I reckon the author must be from Redcar, although he doesn't actually admit it!
If you enjoyed that, an even better book in my opinion is 'Sniper One' by Sgt Dan Mills. Absolutely unputdownable.

I think I read Sniper One a while ago (is the one where they borrow a barret .50 from some yanks and there is a iraqi spotter who thinks he is out of range while targeting morter fire - the barret .50 takes him out.. ?)
( I dont keep books long cos give them to M.I.L who works in a charity shop )

Yes it was a British specialist that turned up with the Barret. They used it so much they ran out of standard ammo and had to start using amoured piercing rounds on people!
