Got to be someone on here, who can help out/recommend someone. I'm sure at least one STWer's other half made stuff.

I am planning to have something made, to my design, but need someone who can turn concept into reality, and advise on practicalities of manufacture, etc.

Anyone got any good leads? Someone you've used, and been happy with?

I am sure STW has the answers...

I don't know where you are based but this guy www.ericnsmith.com is known to be very good.

I used to do web work for him a few years ago. He's well known around here but might be pricey.

Thanks, amosridl, but I'm thinking more along the lines of handmade stuff, you know, what you get at craft markets/little trendy boutiques.

My ex brother in law is a silversmith. He is based in Caerleon, you could go see him and do Cwmcarn in one day. His name is Rafi and is a top bloke.

Crawford Carrick-Anderson is a silversmith and does pretty much full bespoke (scuse pun). Lovely stuff and a mountain biker too so ticks all the boxes. Even got him to knock up a new house number for our front door (not in silver mind).
There's an old article here http://www.descent-world.co.uk/ARCHIVE_PRE2005/html/products/ccasilver.html

Hatton Garden are mainly dealers, not makers. Most of the places sell stuff made elsewhere.

Sides, a bit spensive for my pokkits... 😯

He's a good silversmith, that's his forté but I'm sure he works in other metals too. I know he's done stuff with titanium too.
Not the fastest man alive, but good at what he does and fairly priced too.

He's in Camden by the lock behind Dingwals...

Hmm, we're not doing too well here today. That CCA link ends up in a dead end, and this Roger Stone has no website that I can tell of.

I need someone who does one-off small commissioned pieces. You know; if I give them a design, they can work from that.

I live in hope that STW can provide the answers...

My GF works for a small jewellery designers and they do silver items amongst other things.
Some of their designs are her own and they have a small in-house production capability.
Although they currently only occasionally deal direct with the public, they may be able to help and have on occasion done one-offs.
Send me an email with your requirements and i'll pass it on.

Too much faffing about. What I was hoping for, was praps a few websites, that I can have a look at, with examples of people's stuff, so's I could get an idea of what they're capable of/good at.

No website/visual indication of what is possible = no interest to Rudeboy.

Try: AW Jewellery

The website is out of date but I reckon Amy would be happy to make anything you fancy - particularly if it's in silver. She has made various custom pieces for people in the past and has a shop in Manchester if that's anywhere near you?

Try taking a look on Folksy.com see if there's anything near what your thinking of and ask them if they can do what you want.

Ah, things are looking up! Thanks, folks. I need to be able to see the silversmith's work, see if they're 'right' for my needs. I think Johnny Rocket might be just a teeny bit pricey for me, though!

More like it. The Cloversoul and Hanah Lamb stuff is closer to what I'm looking for. Quirky, simple, original stuff.

The brief: Design something for someone who does not in any way wear much jewellery, but likes a little bit of finely crafted summmat. Not bling-bling flashy tacky stuff, more discreet and understated. Simple gemstones, not exotic precious jewels. I'm thinking about the possibility of a bikey-derived design, but not too obvious.

If I can find the right person on here, this could be a fun STW 'project', like helping Jojo find the right wedding outfit, or PeterPoddy's missuses' secret bike build.

My sister is a silversmith try here for info. She has worked for a silversmith in Sheffield and now just does custom pieces and is currently based in sheffield. She will be relatively cheap but is well worth taking a quick look.

Good luck!

Hi RB, a mate works as a gold/silversmith and he's made some bits and bobs for me. He works for a small family firm and they will take on all sorts of projects, including reproductions of WW1 aircraft for an Officers Mess. They are in North Wiltshire and can be found here: www.coppinsofcorsham.co.uk

Where are you based? Balburny estate near Glenrothes, Fife has a jeweller type chap that can do custom stuff - can do pretty much anything and everything...not sure I've got the spelling right though...
