Living in exeter i occasionally have a trundle around woodbury common and love the variety of terrain , scenery and  general peace to be found in the area but always seem to find myself following a few main tracks I've come to know over the years . It's an easy place to get disoriented so i always have viewranger with me these days. I was wondering if anyone had any fairly comprehensive routes/maps of the area including the surrounding commons so I can collect together a number of  circular routes which might take between an hour and 1/2 a day. I've seen a few short downhill stretches with jumps etc but these are not of interest to me as i ride rigid at the mo and am no spring chicken. I guess it's more roughstuff riding I'm looking for but not afraid of technical stuff as long as it doesn't require "getting air"! Thanks in advance , Bill

The wooded area between Bicton, Yettington and Four Firs has some great trails on both sides of the little valley there, and some more nice stuff heading North West (ish) from Wheathill carpark, as well as some nice trails crossing over onto Aylesbeare common and dropping down towards Newton Pop. Basically some nice trails all over the place! I have several GPX files of the area taking in a lot of it, I'll ping them at you when I get home later (if someone hasn't already sorted it).

I've got loads, on all of the various bits of the Common and the ones surrounding it, the problem is they all exist in my head and the decent trails there can be hard to find from directing you loosely to an area, I'd resort to things like 'turn left at the stumpy bush that leans left just after the bit where it's always wet' which probably isn't much help 🙁

There are a few other locals on here though so hopefully they'll pop up with some GPX's for you. I would normally offer to guide if you wanted but new arrival is making planned rides a little difficult.

Loads of nice singletrack, and defo worth exploring the further edges South towards Budleigh and North towards Newton Pop and Tipton.

Are you on Strava? If so, pm me your ID and I'll follow you so you can see all my routes. I probably do a Woodbury ride once a week.

I'm on half-term next week, and weather permitting will be going out for as many rides as possible 😎 if you wanted to meet me up there I'd happily show you a few of my favourite bits.
