i knew it would be you who answered and not someone with real figures. even though I know your kinda right. I got offered a real peanuts job today which I kinda accepted but think I'll call on monday to say i can't work for that and chance it that I'll get another i have seen, but I prob won't and then I'll be left with nothing.

Just fancy a move to london and feel a year or whatever in a bike shop wouldn't be so bad. Gotta love monkeys grooming each other 😀

Well, I had to! Working in a shop in London is great, great fun. Seriously. the pay is rubbish, the hours worse, but it's fun!

Have a look at Cycle Surgery, they're hiring as well. You'll get a better class of customer, IMO.

Evans have serious issues in my opinion. For example, last weekend, I was in Spitalfields. I went in to Evans and was ignored by staff lolling around chatting. I went in to Cycle Surgery just across the way and the staff who, it must be said, were lolling around chatting, broke off that chat and came to talk for a while. They were great.

If you're moving to London for a year, get a proper job. Apologies to those in the bike shops of London, but I've been there and I've done it. To really enjoy being in London and to really enjoy your cycling, you need more money and more time! I now ride a whole lot more than I did when I was in the industry, and I have far nicer bikes too!

Pretty much unless you're the manager.

I'll have a look I meant perhaps get a cycle sales job to facilitate a move to london then move on to something more focused on my career still in the big smoke. Most companies in london only seem to want to employ people in london despite the fact i can relocate at the drop of a hat. I'll have look at cycle surgery. Thought you'd have an LBS in london CFH?

CS are currently looking for a manager for one of their stores. If I were to find myself on the dole, I'd be in there like a flash (no pun intended!).

I use a few places as my LBS in London, Tails. As follows;
Brixton Cycles - Great, great people. Good stock and next to the skatepark for some phat tricks, innit.
Action Bikes, Scotland Yard. Closest shop to Flash Towers.
Putney Cycles. Barry and Rob are great guys and run (two) great little shops. Nothing flash, but they have staff who care and who ride. Including Dean downstairs in his spanner-wrangling dungeon!
Cycle Surgery Spitz. (The older one, next to Cotswold. Stripe St, I think. )Not really local, but one of the few places to stock the pimp stuff in town. Tend to drop in every time I'm in that part of the City.

About 90% of my purchases come from a little place called Stonehenge Cycles in Salisbury, however. The perfect LBS, IMO.
