Lovely! Drunk some at Spa F1. Goes well with chips and mayo! It does arrive exactly as shown and you willend up wearing some if your drinking technique is not up to scratch.....

It's not that special in terms of belgian beers other than being in a fancy glass. It's 8.5% too...

I'm a bigger fan of lambic beers or gueuze for something interesting.

Bit of an acquired taste but worth drinking just for the woodwork you get with the glass and the thrill of drinking from a mini-yard 🙂

Primus and Jupiler are my favourite tipples when in Belgium.

It's cracking stuff or should that be Kwaking. Had a couple of days in Brugge at Easter and those Belgians know how to make a brew that makes your head spin. Enjoy!

good god no!!! I was introduced to one in the Northern quarter. Flash assured me it was the best beverage in the whole Belgian Bar. The stiffled laugh from him and the barkeep should have sounded an alarm in my head but alas no. My judgement was impeaded by Hoegaarden, Liefmans framboozen and an Anchormens peach beer.
I was presented with the chemistry set above.

Tasted like shite.

where you going RD?

Kwak is a novelty beer IMO as it tastes ok but is nothing brilliant.

Belgian beer bars are brilliant.
You start off trying by description- mmmm caramel with a hint of coriander sounds nice and it's only 8%,
Then you go onto buying by price- mmmm I wonder what a 30 euro bottle of beer tastes like.
Then you buy by strength - haha that ones only 14%.
Finally you buy by name- **** it lets get a vicars knob it's only 9%. Ultimately you end up very pished.

My favourites are Westmalle, Grimbergen, La Chouffe, Leffe, Karmliet and if I'm feeling flush Deus.

I assume you've been directed to Berties Beerhouse (I've corrupted the name) if you are going to Bruges. Its got a stupid beer menu, and a very well informed waitress when I was there. I seem to remember Kwak is a pun in Flemish. I won't spoil it.

Not really my sort of beer, I prefer a gueuze, or a Delirium Nocturnum/Tremens has to be tried too.

Yeah - I've had a few Kwaks at a bar in Ghent a few yrs back.

I agree with the recommendation above of Grimbergen. Mmmmmm.

Kwak makes a funny noise (like quack) when you drink it from the chemistry set glass. 🙂

There are better beers here in Flanders that we keep secret including the previously mentioned Deus... 😉

If you're coming over here to drink beer make sure you pop into Delerium which is just off the Grand place as they hold the world record for the most beers in one bar, over 2000 for you to chose from.

They also stock Leffe Vieille Cuvee, which is a must try if you already enjoy Leffe in it's most comon forms.
Oh and Leffe Biere de Noel has just been released for the festive season so grab it while you can.

So many good beers you can't go wrong.

Kwak is gorgeous! I was introduced to it when I went to Brugges for a race (not a bike one) and in the evening at the hostel we were staying at, someone spotted the unusual glasses and off we went.

Everyone thought that we'd all got so trashed that night because we'd been racing in the day - until someone spotted the percentage on a bottle. explained a lot.

I've still got one of the proper glasses/wooden stands which takes pride of place on the glasses shelf at home.

Which is why one of the bars in Ghent takes your shoe as a deposit for the Kwak glass and hoists it into the ceiling in a basket awaiting the return of the glass.

For me, no trip to Belgium is complete unless I've had several beers that I didn't have last time I was there.

Can't wait for the RvV - the thought of it is the only thing keeping me sane right now...
