I quite fancy a shandy or two but the lemonade in the shops all seems to be full of sweeteners these days. So I got to thinking I could maybe make some using the soda stream gadget.
Anyone got a decent recipe? I'm thinking it's going to be a sweet fizzy water with a hint of lemon, rather than some hipster sicilian lemon cordial, but what do I know?
There’s Fentimans, which is the classic old fashioned lemonade,
but if you want to make your own, here’s the recipe…
Personally, I’d rather drink the lemonade than turn it into a shandy, but that’s just me.
Proper legit fermented lemonade os a piece of piss to make.
You need a starter i generally use a ginger bug because i also make ginger beer there are many recipes online.
I can't stress this enough though.
Do not store OR open a bottle inside! Its an outdoor hobby when they go they really go.
while its not alcoholic, well maybe trace. It does have a certain ueastiness to it and it doesn't need cut with beer to be delicious.

Better that than being 50% sugar.
Anyway, watching with interest. I've tried several times to make lemonade and never had anything I'd call "success" with it.

Maybe, depends on how strong your aversion to artificial sweeteners is 🤮
Here's one I just Googled:
- 3 unwaxed lemons
roughly chopped
- 140g caster sugar
- 1l cold water
Method
-
step 1
Tip the lemons, sugar and half the water into a food processor and blend until the lemon is finely chopped.
-
step 2
Pour the mixture into a sieve over a bowl, then press through as much juice as you can. Top up with the remaining water and serve with plain ice or frozen with slices of lemon and lime.
If you have a Soda stream then you could even make it fizzy.
