Was up there on Sat - not as nice a day but still fantastic. See this We did a Grade I ish gully near Nethermost somewhere 😛

One of the many helvellyn descents.
Taken yesterday.
Had an interesting time at the top of number 2 gully.
Meant to be a grade 1...not yesterday though.
Nethermost provided Patterdale team with a bit of work this weekend.

Great weather for a bit of walking.

What was the issue with number 2 gully, getting through the cornice?

We soloed a Grade I ish gully a little way round from nethermost - was dead straightforward until we got to the cornice.

Problem was good neve under at least 15cm of new snow and windslab.
'Twas all banked out and collapsing. Unable to kick steps, stick axes in. Dug a stance and had a think.
MTFU'd and Climbed last 50m by clearing snow and cutting steps.
Tiring.
To add to it, I was solo and no one knew I was there. Clever..

Needs a melt and refreeze.
Bit annoyed with myself.
Should have known better.
