MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
I've got a couple of nice Mexican fenders which I am very happy with, but I would really like a "vintage" style lacquered finish on them.
anyone ever got this done, is it expensive? were you happy with the results
Bear in mind that nitrocellulose lacquer takes an age to dry (I've heard up to three months to fully cure...)
yes - I have heard that the stuff they use to take the old paint off stinks as well
I read one solution to speed things up is to put the guitar in kitty litter!
The finish on a Mex Strat will be pretty indestructible synthetic stuff that usually needs nitromors/sanding/blasting to get off, but anyone who finishes guitars will be used to doing that as part of the job.
I don't know anyone, but I can put you in touch with my local luthier who uses a good guitar paint-shop. Email me if you want the details.
