Anyone bought anything from Highlander Outdoors?

Have seen this laptop backpack I quite like:

Roam backpack

What's the quality like etc.?

The STW discount also helps...

I work in a shop and we’re Highlander stockists, but not that backpack. Most of their gear is functional and at the mid-low price bracket. Just don’t expect Osprey quality.

I bought a tent and some thermal underwear from Highlander about 15years ago. Both were perfectly serviceable and the price was very good. Think regatta prices but better quality

Sorry nothing more up to date

Yeah as above I've had a few bits and bobs of theirs over the years. My experience has been basic/budget but well thought out, serviceable and robust. Good quality for the price.

I’ve got a Highlander Halo Smock top, which I’m very pleased with. The material is quite soft, with a microfleece liner, and the zips are windproof. It has a hood tucked into the collar and it’s very comfortable to wear. The softer outer means it’s pretty quiet to wear.
Very much based on Buffalo Mountain Shirt, but cheaper and with better details, like having a hood, and the side zips only go up so far, with pit zips, which I think are better to use than the full length zips Buffalo use - I’ve got a Special 6, I’d rather it had a hood and the side-zip/pit-zip system, tbh.

So, tldr, the Highlander is a fine bit of kit!

I had to buy an emergency trangia burner years ago and managed to find a highlander one in a nearby army surplus. It has this really great feature where if you turned the closed burner upside down the meths would pour out past the seal 🤣

I've also has bits and pieces like hats and stuff I would say the quality is just about okay for the price but there have definitely been some skimpy and thus quickly split seams.

Probably quality control issues rather than full shonk.

Yeah, well, army surplus - not really a guarantee as to its integrity or its use history…

One thing I’ve just noticed about the Halo jacket which was a nice touch, I thought the hood seemed a bit bulky, so I took it out from under the collar, and it’s fully fleece lined, unlike every other jacket I’ve had with a hood inside the collar.
Construction quality is very good as well. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Brand new in box? Not sure when most army surplus stores actually had army surplus in them.

I'm currently wearing a warmish highlander base layer. I. Wear it to work. I got it as a Christmas present at least prior to 2010. It gets worn loads has glass flake paint stains up the sleeves from the big red bridge outside Edinburgh. The elasticated cuffs split and I need to sew them but it's held up well.
