It's a murky day and our thoughts have turned to holidays.
This year the snorkelling was rubbish in Antigua and it made us appreciate how important it is to our holiday.
We just want to snorkel from the beach and see lots of fish.

I've dived and snorkelled there and it's at best, meh. The Phillipines, Red Sea and Great BR are better bets.

yep spearfished and snorkelled there, nothing to see but a few flying gunards, usual fished to death reefs etc etc, there is one ok'ish place it 's just north of Sandy bay hotel i think, folkestone marine reserve, i did visit it, it was a bit sh1t !

if you want good snorkelling diving etc, you have to head east, far east, i went to flores in Indo, nowhere else i have ever been anywhere in the world comes even close to Labuanbajo. you want sun fish as big as cars thats your place, will never forget spearfishing off Seraya and being in a shoal of 1000's of barracuda all adults with very sharp teeth i had a very large speargun but felt very much out of my element and totally in theirs !!!

Barbados is out then. Where else in the carribean is good?
Florida keys worth a look? Mrs Zip doesn't like sharks and big stuff just lots of little fish.
Ps has to be carribean!

You're a bit stuck in the Carribean. I went to Negril and the diving as decent but the reef is offshore and not doable from the beach this might help.

Cuba was a good as the bit of red sea that we went to at hurgada.
Had bloody awful tummy bug at both so don't feel inclined to revisit.

We've been snorkelling a couple of times in Barbado, but no idea whether its any good, as snorkelling goes - but Barbados is safe and you can drink the water. 🙂

I went to Negril 8 years ago and stayed near where the hedonism hotel is right on the penisula where it's quite rocky the snorkelling was pretty good there.....small puffers, baracudas, snappers and plenty of other plus on an evening watching pelicans dive for supper from under the water was pleasant!! 😀
Its always a trade of though the other half didn't dive or snorkel so insisted on a good beach...this obviously means poor snorkelling with expanses of sand and not rocks.
Aruba wasn't bad again when you got away from the beaches, huge parrot fish eating the coral..........noisey gits!

Any reason why you've not gone a little further and tried scuba? Just asking as it seems a long way to go to be focused on snorkelling.

Yep. It's well worth a trip with Silver Moon catamarans to swim with the turtles!

First class flights to Caribbean for £80.
So Caribbean it is!
Used to scuba but it just seems a lot of faffing.
