i had loads of photos on my laptop of my two boys .
i was booting the lappy up the other day and it come up with a message saying...... unmountable boot volume??
no amount of messing around would get the thing started so i had to do a full install from pressing one of the f buttons which brings up the packard bell recovery thingy!!
now all my photos have gone ?
is there anyway of getting them back as quite a lot of them were sentimental like??

A decent file recovery program should do the job. Did you format the drive first.?
it's very important that you do as little as possible with the computer until you have what is recoverable back. anything you do with the computer can overwrite the disk space where the photos are/were and make them more difficult to get back.
I've not used it myself but recuva
is a free tool for recovering data and should do what is possible without forking over cash or pirating software.
