I have a Freesat box (no Sky) and am constantly getting interference with 'no signal' appearing on screen. This happens with every channel at some point when I am watching a programme.

A little while ago I called out an engineer who checked the dish was aligned correctly and everything was tightly secured. He did mention that the dish was an original one. Naturally whilst he was here, the box behaved impeccably with perfect reception!

So ... could the actual dish need replacing or could it be a broken LNB?

The final straw was when I sat down to watch Le Tour highlights and the reception was so bad I had to switch it off. 👿

As always, thank you. 🙂

The weather's been pretty bad, that can have a negative impact on satellite TV. Have you checked the LNB for damage/water ingress? Pretty (very!) easy to change the LNB if it's got damaged.

Thanks woody but I've been in this house for a year and it's never worked properly. At my last house I had an LNB replaced and was presented with a very large bill!

CG like woody say's. the bad weather we have been having could have caused this.
if you need to replace your dish/lnb i can send you a new dish and quad lnb for £20 deliverd, so dont be ripped off by a local engineer.

Thanks ton. So can an old dish 'wear out' as such or is it just down to the LNB?

the dish wont wear out, a lnb can fail thru water ingress or a port failure.

I had the same thing, and it turned out the freesat box itself was knackered.

Check the cable. Our Sky box did this all the time. Turns out the cable had worn where the original installer had run it over the roof, and moisture was getting at the cable core.

Little update ... LNB replaced and what a difference with no more scrambling of picture. In fact, I've just been watching Le Tour highlights and didn't miss any of it. 🙂

Thanks again you helpful chaps. 8)

The dish only focuses the signal on the LNB. If alignment is correct the LNB and cable are the possible weak links in the chain. IF you replace the cable don't scrip and buy el-cheapo pound Wilkinson brown poorly shielded cable.
