Our 30 year old analogue scale is giving up the ghost, so considering replacing it with a digital smart scale to help track trends in body composition and so on. We're already in the Garmin ecosystem, so the S2 is an obvious contender, but reviews suggest it's getting on a bit and not as accurate as some newer options. Wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a set they've got experience of?
Garmin works well, but it is pricey. Advantage is it ties into the rest of the Garmin ecosystem - which could be good if you do monitoring of progress and fitness via Garmin metrics.
Withings do something similar and I've no doubt there are cheaper options.
Only drawback (if it matters to you) is it won't sync with Garmin (but there might be a way of doing that).
i like my garmin scales - take the body fat etc with a bucket of salt, but the weight tracking is good.
DrP
I like my Garmin S2. All the health stats come up in easy to read, bright red figures. 😉
We have a Withings one, it’s pretty good and the App is quite simple and intuitive
We've had both Withings and Garmin. The Garmin is far superior, not only because it ties in so well to the Garmin app, but also because the Withings intermittently reset itself from kilos to pounds and the button underneath to cycle through only worked about 2% of the time. This was the case on our original scales, their replacement when they failed, and their warranty replacement.
Some Eufy ones. They were cheap from Costco (£20?), and do the only smart thing I wanted, which is to deposit the data into Apple Health without me lifting a finger. I doubt the % body fat is very accurate (or hope it isn't anyway)!
I recently bought one of the Hume Pod ones, seems OK but not sure how much I believe it - it shows the amount of muscle and fat in arms, legs and torso individually. It's either witchcraft or just made up. When it tells me I'm dehydrated that does align with pee colour though and I think my overall body fat %age is probably fairly close.
If you go with Garmin and have a better guess at Body Fat than it provides then you can set a more accurate benchmark and it'll track variation according to that.
I don't know if any others have that same option.
