We will be in touch
A few years ago I signed up to a web hosting service, for a domain and some web space, on an annual rolling basis. I renewed the contract a few times, then lost track of the site, so ceased payment (figuring that would break the contract). The last I heard was a final payment requirement, if I didn't pay, my account would be suspended (which it was).
now they are trying to get more money out of me. They are claiming that despite the account being suspended for 3 years (and thus neither me, nor any member of the public could access it), I'm still liable to pay the full amount for the hosting over those 3 years.
Is this correct? there's nothing specific about 'suspension' in the T&C, other than it can happen. Surely it's reasonable to expect that if an account is suspended, there are no more charges being added to it (other than the initial amount owed)?
Is there any legal background to this? I'm fine with them taking me to court if they're wrong, however I don't want to get a black mark on my credit rating if I am.
