Does a conditional discharge count as a criminal offence? How long until it does not need to be declared?

Insurance company. A client has asked and I don't know how to advise him.
It seems he had the misfortune to be caught with some weed in the 1980s. Street value was apparently about 2p so the magistrate gave him a conditional discharge and told him not to be naughty again!!!!
I don't think anyone can easily find out if you have a record - unless it's a CRB thing

I'd ask a broker (hoping you are not one), I doubt if Insurers could find out or that they'd care TBH.
The conditional discharge[u] does not constitute a conviction[/u] unless the individual breaches the conditional discharge and is resentenced.

Nope no Criminal convictions need to be mentioned on motor insurance policies. But if people are out on gradual release or bail then they HAVE to have breakdown cover on the insurance or provide proof of having cover.
